First: I see points for sale in various forums (including this one) for a very reasonable price--that is, points only. The question: Is there any difficulty in getting those points transferred to my account if I were to buy them? Subquestion: Is there anything I should consider in such a buying other than the time they expire?

Second: Is there an archives section of this site? That is, could I have searched for this answer somewhere else on the site and not had to have to bother those of you who may have already answered this question?

What point system are you asking about? ( because there is seldom a way to get RCI points without buying a resort somewhere.) If you're asking about RCI points, then most of the time you can combine RCI points generated from several different resorts together without much problem.

There is a new search feature Google search of TUG this feature uses the power of Google to search the TUG BBS.

Of course, I just guessing too but, if they are talking RCI points can't you just transfer from a seller (if you have a points account already)? Is there still a fee to do that or no? Then, you only need to worry about WHEN those points expire, is that correct? Also, is it true that as long as you make a reservation (for JUL09) before those points expire (DEC08) then that's OK???

Sorry I wasn't more specific.

It's RCI points.

And, I'm talking about buying points only from someone who has excess points and is selling them cheap. I'm not talking about buying another TS with points. I am already a points owner. I see points only for sale on both this forum and on E-Bay. The ones I have seen here are cheaper than buying from RCI as well as cheaper than buying another TS and paying the maintenance fees. My question is, "If I buy excess points from someone else, is it easy to transfer them to me in RCI and is there a charge for this transfer?" Then, if the answer to this is positive, are there concerns I should have about buying these excess points other than the question of when they expire?

From the RCI points disclosure, page 11:

11. TRANSFERRING RCI POINTS. The Member
may transfer his/her RCI Points to another Member
for use in the transferee Member’s Use Year, so long
as there is no compensation for the transfer.

Unless you are getting the points for no charge, you are not complying with RCI's policies.

Is that the language. Not an RCI points person but that is inexact language.

I know what the intent is, but that doesn't accomplish it.

Only says you can not be compensated for the act of transferring.

I'd go so far as saying it doesn't appear to prohibit compensation for the points being transferred.

As we all know, I'd loose.

Still.....
