Not understanding the lack of love for Golden Corral. I've never been there, and it wouldn't be my choice for an anniversary date, but it sounds like a casual place where folks can show up and visit one another for an extended time. No reason GoalieDave can't do the sandwich on the park bench before arrival and have an iced tea while socializing. (wink)

BJs as an alternative isn't all that much better. In fact, I would much rather go to a Golden Corral than BJs Brewhouse.

IMHO, not all restaurants will allow a group of customers to sit around to have clean fun and talk and occupy their restaurant tables and space for hours. Three cheers for Golden Corral in Orlando.

We're excited to announce that once again, we'll be hosting a get-together for fellow timeshare enthusiasts to come together for a delightful meal and great conversation. Over the years, we've shared wonderful times, and we're looking forward to another memorable gathering. Join us at the Golden Corral in Orlando for a fantastic time!

We plan to be there. All depends on what happens with Jury Duty that I have the first week of January. Then of course the ability to secure something somewhere. I don't want to book until I know the outcome of Jury Duty.

Bumping. I'll be there. We're booked for the week at Vistana Villages. Who else is coming?

The Chief Of Staff & I will be there.

We got our timeshare reservations (Vacation Village At Parkway), got our airplane tickets (Southwest), got our rental car (Turo).

Good to go.

We will bring name tags -- probably the very same ones we brought previously.

( Wearing a name tag is optional, not mandatory. )

Even though there will no doubt be plenty of familiar faces at the event, some of us sr. citz. aren't all that good at remembering. Name tags will help.

Every year, I think it would be great to go, every year work comes in the way. This year is no different, I will be working at Walt Disney World that evening! I don't have my schedule yet for that week, but if I was to average out my start/end times, I would say 7pm - 2am Wednesdays - Sundays. This was my bus yesterday from Magic Kingdom to Pop Century Resort!

Perhaps you can sneak by Golden Corral sometimes later on the 24th and take us all on an adventurous spin through WDW? The faster the better!

Or, a group can go to Disney Springs (free parking in any of the garages), go to the bus loop, hop on the Riviera or Caribbean or Boardwalk bus, get off near the SkyLiner (if it's running), hop on it, take it round-trip, walk back to the bus stop, and use that bus to take you back to Disney Springs! It would be best to do that in the afternoon. Can I do that for you? Possibly! I just need to know what time and which resort you will be going to (after dinner all the buses at DS get crowded). I don't see why they can't send me over there for you.

I think the buffet option works for this type of situation. There is something for everyone and since they allow people to hang out longer it lets them also eat at dinner time based on lunch prices. As @AwayWeGo indicated, it also allows people to return and sit at a different table so people can mingle better. Sure this could work at a fixed seating restaurant, but people would probably be less inclined to do so because they really have no reason to get up. If you don't like the restaurant chosen, you don't need to go. Though I suspect you are just here being critical and judgmental for the sake of being critical and judgmental
The other great thing about being at a buffet is the abililty to sit-in different places each time you get something else to eat. We have been doing that for the last few years - so that everyone can meet everyone - Yes, change your seat to see different people each time you get more food!.

If you're planning on visiting Walt Disney World next week, some music to get you ready for it! It's the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the Indiana University Chorus, and the School for Creative Performing Arts Children's Chorus, released in 1989. If you're not sure of where the music is from, you can look up the CD on Amazon.
