TUG is so bad for me. ;-)

I'm out. For three years now. It all started with an innocent TS search, and stumbled upon tug....but then again, $20,000 worth of vacations in a year for a mere $2,000 in MFs, membership fees and exchange fees--hard to beat when we used to spend $4000 for just the two of us in a regular hotel room.

That is the main reason I am wanting points in timeshare. Between October 2011 and April 2013 we spent $19,000 on vacation expenses. I will absolutely use my own points and hopefully not be trying to rent them out.

DH thinks I am going to get addicted to points and buy too many but I won't. I am stopping at 300,000-325,000.

What I have gotten addicted to is reading the boards! IS there a 12 step program for that?!?

I bought my second last year and sold my first timeshare. With all the upgrades and bonus weeks available and the possibility of getaways, we are scrambling to use all our available weeks. We cannot turn down the $180 weeks.
I have been tempted to buy more timeshares, but I think I would end up wasting my bonus weeks.
We also want to cruise and visit some locations w/o timeshares. Last year we travelled 14 weeks because I had some weeks banked. We did not buy any getaways. We have not purchased a getaway yet. I had 2 weeks banked for this year so I cannot justify more timeshares. I would like to have Marriott priority but for now I will resist.
I am Sherry and I am successfully fighting my addiction. I window shop a little, research a lot and enjoy traveling.
Europe is on the horizon with a River Cruise and I want to do a Galapagos cruise. If I get too many timeshares, I will never find time for the cruises while I am able to walk all over the Galapagos islands.
So to keep from buying multiple timeshares, I keep reminding myself of all the other things I love to do. We took 12 cruises before I bought a timeshare. We have not cruised since. I love cruises also. Since 2007, we have taken lots of wonderful timeshare vacations, but only timeshare vacations. Right now I have 3 timeshare vacation weeks booked and 4 more bonus weeks available. We are going to National Parks in Utah this year and staying in b and b's...starting to venture away from Timeshares Only. I do love timeshares though

I am definitely addicted to the boards, but I tell myself that it is better than an addiction to FB games. I tell myself that I am researching and learning. I have learned a lot in my many hours.
All true..but I am addicted

I'm just educating myself and doing research (all the time). Maybe we need a 12-Step Program. Hello, I'm Suzanne, and I'm addicted to the TUG Boards. . .

I know what you mean. I've been so obsessed with looking and learning about timeshares for the last two weeks that I've basically done little to nothing else.

So, today, I told myself no more TUG for two weeks so I can get some work done. But look, I'm back here again. I definitely need a 12-step program. I can't wait for my first TS to close so that I can start getting into the really fun stuff. I'll get no work done then.

Thank God I'm a Timeshare Guy

Well stayin’ in timeshares is really pretty grand,
Whether you’re traveling the US or in another land
Listen to this song and then you’ll understand.
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:
Well I got me a fixed week, I got me a floater.
I can go to England and be a narrow boater;
Or fish a lake in northern Minnesota
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

A timeshare kind of trip is a tonic anytime
While traveling with your family it really works fine
With a bedroom for the kids it’s truly joy sublime
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

When I come home from work and the sun's setting low
I get online to find places we can go.
Then I go visit TUG ‘cause there’s always more to know
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

I'd search for trades all day if I could,
but the lord and my wife wouldn't take it very good.
So I travel when I can and I work when I should:
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

I wouldn't swap my weeks for tickets or cruises,
I check with my wife and she always refuses
We just keep our week and forget those other uses:
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:

Yeah other folks stuck in the old hotel scene
Lots of other people think that's mighty keen.
Well, folks let me tell you now exactly what I mean:
I thank God I'm a timeshare guy.

CHORUS:
Well my timeshare does have big yearly fees,
But I get condo suites that always seem to please,
Way better than those rooms of Travelocity’s,
Thank God I'm a timeshare guy.
CHORUS:

Well, our weeks are all deeded so we’ll have them till we die
And when we’re gone our kids will get them by and by.
We’ve said: Plan lots of trips and enjoy the sea and sky
I thank God they’re timeshare guys.

CHORUS:

My TUGger friends taught how to buy and how to trade.
They taught me how to swap and how to upgrade
They showed me that with timeshare you’ve really got it made.
Thank God for those timeshare guys.

FINALE:
Well I got me a fixed week, I got me a floater.
I can go to England and be a narrow boater;
Or spend a week in Northern Minnesota

[Ready now? Shout it out!!]

THANK GOD I'M A TIMESHARE GUY!

I LOVE it!!! :banana::cheer:

You'll get more obsessed with all the options after you close: using, trading, renting. Where should I go? What's available? Waiting for the email to come telling you if a trade came through.

Hi, Im Kellie, and I am addicted to timeshares AND to tug. I have 2 addictions!

My wife is getting sick of me talking timeshares and vacations everyday too. Oh what to do?:ponder:

Old post I know but I just had to share...

My wife was the same way but I got her involved in the process and now she talks more about it than I do.

We're the go someplace different every time types so she keeps track of where we've been and plots years ahead where we're going.

My job is to have enough points the cover the 6 weeks of vacation we take each year

For a year and a half, I was truly addicted. Now I just check the boards 4 X a day..lol

Loved the song

I'm new here and looking into purchasing a TS... a Marriott TS at the KoÓlina in Hawaii. laughing reading the posts on this thread. Many of you own many TS and from what you've seen, give me your thoughts on Marriott KoÓlina and I'm thinking of using it yearly or Odd years.. but with that TS, i think (hoping) it's not hard to rent it out as it is a premier, very nice property... your thoughts?

I would like to know too. ;)

There is a separate Marriott Board here:

Loved the report on the addiction virus and the song.

Obviously we are addicted, too, since we are in our 6th year now!
Do I need to say HELP!?

Actually, NO, since we are happy!

But we do wonder where we will settle down - every place we go is so nice -- timeshare condos can;t be beat!

I'm not posting as often, but am still checking out this Board three times a day on average (OK - four, but that's all!)

Me Too!!

My husband tells me that I can buy as many timeshares as I like...but I have to sell one for any new purchase that I make. :) It allows me to look to my hearts content, but know that I have to give one up in exchange. It keeps me in check.

This is totally my situation as well, Funny how that works..But I feel like I have missed out on a few deals :annoyed: because of it..but I'm still sitting on 6 weeks :ignore:
