I have found a TUG ad which is almost too good to be true.
(I don't want to tell you which one though...)

My question is who can post ads to TUG. Members only or anyone with internet access?

And, is there a way for me to research who posted the ad?

Thanks.

Members only - but note that resale companies can be members. Right now most timeshares are going for 0-10% of original retail, so we have lots of "too good to be true" Ads, so that part wouldn't concern me. To find out more about them, just click on the link in the Ad and contact them.

Privacy and anti-spam...

And, is there a way for me to research who posted the ad?

You can certainly contact the seller directly to ascertain his / her identity, but you cannot otherwise obtain or "research" that info independently.

There were welcome TUG improvements made in this area a few years ago. Those measures successfully eliminated any possibility of "harvest" of email addresses by spammers, scammers and the like.

Clarification

I think you both have answered my question.

So it seems like there's no way to look at an ad and determine that it has been posted by reseller Acme Timeshares Inc., and then do some research on Tug and elsewhere to see what people's experiences with Acme have been?

I would have to contact the ad owner in order to find out that it was placed by Acme?

Yes - unless the poster chooses to reveal that info. in the text of their Ad. That keeps scammers from having direct access.

I don't think you should be concerned about contacting them. Getting more info. is not a commitment, and people are used to lots of "tire kickers."
