There is a simple rule of thumb for TS business offers:

Never pay a large upfront fee - REPUTABLE brokers charge a fee out of the proceeds of the transaction - not upfront.

Are there any TS resale companies that do not charge a fee upfront? I have talked with several of them and everyone asks for a fee.

Absolutely - REPUTABLE TS brokers charge a commission out of the proceeds.

Denise I always see advice about timeshare sales that says 'never pay an upfront fee' which is great if your selling but I am looking for info about sellers as I want to help my mother-in-law purchase a timeshare. Is there some place (i've looked a few times) on TUG to find out which known sellers to avoid?

Depending where and what you want to buy you may not have to go through a broker. There are many units for sale by owner here on TUG, on RedWeek and others. I have 2 I'm giving away listed in the classifieds and in the forums, as do many other TUG members.

eBay is another good place to find bargains.

The important thing to do is to make sure you know exactly what you are buying because there are so many different types of deals out there. Weeks, RTUs, points, and others.
