Just posting to see if I have this straight...

I have 31K points left for the current year (2008).

I have already made my reservations for 2009 and have 56K points left.

Neither the 31K nor the 56K will give me what I need for a vacation.

Can I borrow the 56K from next year to make a reservation for this year worth 87K points then cancel the reservation, then transfer the points to RCI? And will the 87K pts get me a 2 br place throught RCI?

Thanks,

AJ

28,000 PT is the smallest RCI deposit or you can RENT for $5 per thousand for a reservation as you are with 90 days of anything in the 2008 use year.

For the 2009 points you can borrow from a future year or if within 90 days of travel, again RENT Points from Wyndham.

I sure there are other who will chime in on the value of a 28,000 RCI deposit - as to search 2 years out or a "last call" type reservation. I have done the RENT points from Wyndham several times to get weekend trips or resort specials.

If you have no plans to start an RCI search, deposit 28K on December 1, 2008 and let the other 3K go.

Wait until 12/31/09 to deposit the 56K as two 28K deposits after you see how well the 2008 deposit goes.

If you want to get a red deposit, you can always make a 70K deposit in 2009 using your 56K and renting 14K and then canceling a 70K reservation.

There have been many posts discussing the use of a 28K RCI deposit.

You have enouph points to get 2 weeks from RCI...

If you look below, I got all of those locations using 28K point deposits...that I banked 1.5 yrs ago and started an ongoing search. You just have to be realistic...you are not going to get Manhattan Club with a 28K week. Also, if you are going to be traveling in a shorter period of time, look at the extra vacations and you can use a 28K or 70K week for most things that pare priced for under $500.

You can. But since you probably want to deposit 28k, 42k, 70k, 105k, 154k or combine of that, it is much easier to just deposit 3 28k to RCI.

Besides this method, you can also put 56k into credit pool so you can save 3k worth of point by paying either $30 transaction fee, or if you lucky, get a VC doing it with your free transaction credit. Since it is very small point range, unless you want to pull 2010 points also, it does not make too much sense. You can also rent point from FF, at 90 days, the rent cost is $5 per 1K, very close to your MF I will guess. Than you can cancel it and use them to deposit to RCI.
