Went to a presentation today and of course didn’t buy. She was very respectful and it was exactly 45 minutes.

She wanted to sell us $15000 worth of points - which she said would make all our resale points developer points.

Again no plans to buy, however:

1. Would this actually work. (A minimum purchase to make them all developer points?)

And more relevantly

2.she was talking about this Travel Up program (I think that is the name) for discounted hotels cruises etc.

Is it a real thing and if so does anyone have it and what is their experience.

Thanks!

1. No, they cannot make your resale points developer points. They will take them back and make you think they're giving you something for them to put towards the purchase they're trying to convince you to make. In reality they're not giving you anything.

2. You can do better than the discounts offered by Travel Up.

Don't prepay. Do use their Price Tracker feature. When you get the email that they've found you a better price respond promptly. Then put the new information in Price Tracker as they might find an even lower price.

Cruises: www.vacationstogo com

Hotels: Priceline Express Deals. You can usually find an additional discount code on several coupon sites.

What Jan said.

I no longer have Travel Up. but did for about a year, in error. There was absolutely nothing in there I could not get cheaper elsewhere with the exception of some VERY FEW cruises.

I cruise A LOT, 3 times a year or more, and Admittedly I was able to find a few that I could get cheaper than any other means. But the difference was in the couple hundred dollar range at best. And this was way in advance, which was a benefit. But regardless the ROI was NEVER there. Saving a couple hundred dollars after spending $20-$30,000 has an ROI window of DECADES OUT, which is basically NEVER.

Jan mantioned vacationstogo, and that's about the best way to book cruises but it's 30-45 days out when their big discounts kick in,. So keep thst in mind.

I get free Travel Up, and I still don't use it.
