Travel Router? Recs?

Chat GPT. AI is amazing and scary. I went to NYC in March to attend a genealogy workshop. I was able to find the original, one hundred and eleven years old, documents from a court case involving a member of my biological family. I had to go over to Brooklyn to a warehouse to be able to see, hold and photograph them. I put the photo of the front of the folded documents on Chat GPT and asked the order which they should be placed by occurrence, what it could tell me about the documents, and what the people involved would have gone through. It told everything right down to the occupation of the Grand Jury Foreman. It told me of the judge's history on the bench and his involvement in a new movement to introduce probation rather than every person found guilty sent to prison. It told me about The Tombs and what it would have been like to be there until bailed out. Also which buildings each of the hearings or the trial would have been held in at that time and provided photos. There's more, I've forgotten but it just blew my mind. Last night I was asking Chat about alligator snapping turtles and their protected status and how one could have one removed from a pond at a garden near Augusta, Georgia. It immediately guessed the name of the garden (it's just being revived after 30 years and is 25 minutes from Augusta.) Then it went on to tell me a detailed procedure, including phone numbers to call in order to get permission from the state/region office for the removal, along with a list of local certified wildlife companies that once permitted could remove it. It gave me list of how to keep track of the turtle until they got there, and more about alligator snapping turtles. AI is amazing and saves a lot of time!

How did you do the photos ? Was it off your camera ? I started using AI to give names to some of the landmarks using my phone camera . Landmarks that we see while Jeeping, not that it changes what we call them, lol.

*But it can be sloppy & can give wrong info...
Was driving to PHX to pickup some family members for a family event & with all the construction around T3 at PHX, I asked which gates would be best to pick someone up & it gave me the wrong info; several times over. Similarly for many other instances, as I do use it, a lot... Very powerful tool but always verify :)!

Yes, a photo taken on my iPhone. I may have brought up the photo, copied it and drug it over into ChatGPT.

I understand that. I find it more helpful to me than not. Another example is that I am considering buying a new car. Our driveway is tricky. We have to back in through wrought iron gates at an angle in order to not hit the gates or the front porch railing. The car can't exceed a certain width or length. I wanted to compare the overall dimensions of four models. I also wanted to know if these were going to undergo major changes in 2027. I wanted the information in a chart form so I could easily compare them. It would have taken me a long time to go to each website and find the dimensions and make a chart. ChatGPT spit that out in seconds along with other information I had not thought of needing but was helpful.

Maybe I will give it another try with a travel router. Based on the online reviews, they seem to have gotten a lot better and easier to set up than the older one I had. We don't run into device limits very often, but every once in a while I do.

Would this be allowed on a cruise ship, or would they confiscate it if they found it?

I think only Royal Caribbean Cruise companies explicitly bans travel routers. Though I am sure others don't want you to take them either as they would prefer you buy plans for each device. It can also be a pain on cruise ships since you are moving about the ship. You would need some way to take it with you and keep it powered on. Though that could be fairly easy as most are USB and can be powered with a portable power bank.

I think they would take it and return it on your final disembarkation. It's kind of a drag to collect your items. Norwegian took my fishing gear on a cruise and on that last day while everyone was leaving I had to wait until almost everyone had disembarked to collect my gear.
