Travel advisories for Americans in effect for 3 Caribbean destinations

You continue to reference freeways. Are you asserting freeways are the most dangerous parts of a city, the most dangerous roads? It is hard to follow your opinions.
Yes. Driving down the freeway is statistically far more dangerous than walking down the street in a high crime neighborhood in the US.

The article isn't about the US. It is about three Caribbean countries. There are about 40,000 vehicle related deaths each year. Based on that and the numbers provided in the article for Turks and Caicos, it makes the chance of being murdered in that country about 8x higher than a vehicular death in the US.

It makes no sense to be concerned about your safety in a Caribbean country. The most risky part of that vacation is going to be your drive to the airport before you depart the US.

Apparently not if you are traveling to the Turks and Caicos. I already pointed out that you the chance of being murdered in T&C is higher than being killed in a car crash in the US. You should also always be concerned about your safety. Everywhere.

Thanks for your excellent advice and input on these boards. It has been invaluable. Also love your YouTube videos. Very informative.

"Statistically"!!!! For people who don't understand or even care about proper statistics. A DENOMINATOR! A DENOMINATOR! My kingdom for A DENOMINATOR!
What is your DENOMINATOR? Do you have one, other than "per year"?
Want me to tear that apart 10 different ways? here's a few:
Teen drivers have a 3x higher chance to be in a deadly accident than people aged between (I think the # is 45) 45 and 74.
Male teen drivers!!! I think they have almost 3x the odds as female teen drivers do.
Rural drivers have a much higher chance of being in a deadly accident per mile driven than urban drivers do.
time of day?
do you drive a motorcycle or a car or a "truck"?
btw, the "vehicle deaths" # that people tend to use INCLUDES PEDESTRIANS,

about those DENOMINATORS????????????
per mile driven? per hour driven? per mile walked in hood? per hour walked in hood?

Awwwww. T&C? Say it ain't so. What we have here seems to be someone who actually used a DENOMINATOR other than "per yr".
Imagine all the people, using intelligent denominators. You may say I'm a dreamer ...

I actually looked into that data a few yrs ago. I did not find the # of violent DEATHS in high crime neighborhoods. It must be avail?
I found # of violent CRIMES in high crime neighborhoods. With only a few thoughtful assumptions / multiplications / divisions, I calculated that
In the USA, basing it on TIME you would walk down the street or drive on a highway, you are 17x more likely to be a victim of a violent crime in the most "violent" zip codes in the US than you are to die in a vehicle accident in the USA. And remember, thse vehicle deaths INCLUDE PEDESTRIANS, so that # is overstated for people actually in the car.

Oh, the population of the high-crime zips includes most of the people committing the crime, so if that is 10%, maybe it is 19x higher.

What % of "violent crime" in those zip codes = death? Don't know. It would have to be 5% for those 2 things to even be similar, never mind "far more"

Want to feel safe? Live in a big city and schedule all of your flights so that you drive around during RUSH HOURS. Don't let your teen drive you, and if you get any idea the lyft driver is a teen, run away run away. There ya go

It makes no sense to be concerned about sharks when swimming in the open ocean. The most risky part of that is the sun. THe melanoma is far more likely to kill you.
Agreed. Skin cancer is way more likely to get you.

I do live in a big city near a subway station. I specifically chose the location to minimize my risk. When you sit at the office and have to analyze traffic accidents and seeing pictures of blood all over the pavement it does get to you.

I can't wait until they introduce the Waymo taxis here. They will be a game changer as they will be far safer than human drivers.

Do you have any cites/sources for your comparison?
