I posted this question here because this is a Wyndham Resort. Transportation from airport to resort in August. My people are coming into town about 9pm.
Thanks in advance.

We just did this a few days ago. Uber/Lyft were hovering around $70,
so we stood in a 30 minute line for the (temporarily scarce at 10pm)
Yellow Cabs. The total before tip was about $41. Pricing set by NYC.
(Includes *six* different fees and surcharges.)

There’s also a bus/subway combo for a lot less if your party is small,
but kind of a pain with luggage:

You can sign up for text alerts from the port authority to stay informed.
This past week I have been getting alerts regarding a shortage of yellow cabs at JFK.

I always do the Express Bus to the 7 train (Roosevelt or Jamaica) and the 7 train to Grand Central. I'm a light packer without wheels...if you can't carry it, you have too much! (OK, I did have 2 50 lb. wheeled suitcases when I was MOVING to Hungary for my Fulbright).

You can manage the bus and the subway with a wheeled bag, but it is quicker to take the stairs sometimes. :)

We use a car service when we travel to and from New York airports. I think it was a recommendation from someone here. We use Carmel Limo. You can book online.

I have used Carmel in the past.they also have a ride share option but it seems like a lot of stops!
