Trading Power Protecting RCI

When you exchange, do you buy the Trading Power Protection? I am about to make my second ever exchange for a week in May 2017. My TPUs expire that same month and I can't renew them so I don't really see the point in buying the TPP. Am I missing something here?
 
If you can't extend or combine your TPUs, should you have to cancel, then there should be no benefit to getting the TPP. RCI no longer returns your exchange fee for cancellations.

Personally, even if I could extend or combine my TPUs, I'm not sure they're worth it to me for the cost RCI charges for TPP. JMO.
