What's the best way to try this?

We're a family of 5 adult-sized people. We usually need a unit that sleeps 6 in timeshares or, a suite or 2 rooms in hotels.
We hope to spend ~4 nights in San Francisco in late spring 2008 in a 2BR or 2 studios.
We have Fairfield points and want to limit cash outlay for these nights, if possible.

Are there resorts in San Francisco w/units that sleep 6 which operate on a points system allowing their owners early booking for partial weeks?
Is there a good place online to find owners of these resorts for a possible direct exchange of a partial week?

Are there any exchange companies that offer partial week stays in San Francisco?

Do any San Francisco resorts with units that sleep 6 practice bulk-spacebanking - with whom?

Which exchange company gets the most San Francisco deposits?
What are their fees and requirements?

Thanks for any help you can offer!:hi:

I believe that only Nob Hill Inn and Suites at Fishermans Wharf have 2 bedroom units that would sleep 6 and are points resorts. Actually they are the ONLY SF resorts with 2 bedroom units.

Nob Hill is a VRI resort and generally deposits in RCI.

Suites at Fisherman's Wharf only has 24 units in total and I rarely ever see it on-line.

Just this week I saw SVC Donatello studios in RCI for first quarter 2007 and also studios at Nob Hill Inn for the same time frame. But you would need THREE of them and that would be full weeks not four nights.

The occasional one and even two bedroom at NHI shows up but they are rare.

VRI does do rentals though. The 2 Bedroom at Nob Hill goes for $275/night.

It is JMHO that most SF deposits go thru RCI because of there trade value and the VRI and SVC affiliations.

You could also consider SFX as an exchange company IF they will accept a week at your resort.

Either way you are looking for a very tough trade.

You could get 2 rooms on Priceline in a 4 Star hotel for less than $100/per room a night. We recently got the new Hilton for $70 a night. For all the how-to info. on Priceline, see my San Francisco webpage at www.freewebs.com/denisetravels.
I have detailed instructions for bidding on Priceline. Be sure you bid on 2 rooms at the same time (not in separate bids.)

Lisa P,

If you want to try to deposit with SFX, you can do so with Fairfield points.

I believe that you are also a member of the TS4MS BBS. If you are seriously interested in pursuing an exchange with SFX, you may wish to go to the TS4MS BBS and post your questions about availability of exchanges in San Francisco to Mark of SFX on the Ask SFX Forum.

I would also invite you to join the Fairfield HOA on TS4MS as I have posted a thread about how you go about actually doing a deposit with FF points into SFX.

Right now, until 10/31/06, if you deposit with SFX you can get 2 additional bonus weeks, one for anywhere but NY and London and one only for Mexico. The bonus weeks are $399 each. Exchanges with SFX are $149 for the basic members. You don't pay any exchange fees unless you get a confirmed exchange.
