We just returned to Florida, and i had set up a 6 month deal for internet for $19.99 a month. set this up on line last week before I left, and talked to someone at Comcast about what i needed to do when i got here. Despite having a confirmation number, calling the number it said to call, having numberous print ads and ads on the internet, they claim they do not have that price. they wanted $44.99 a month instead. I called for hours, constantly being transferred, and then disconnected. Big part of the problem is that we have bundled Comcast TV service in our neighborhood, paid for in bulk by the homeowners association, and they send me to someone who does bundled sevice and they claim they have no codes to put in any special pricing. I spent about 5 frustrating hours trying to get the rate, never suceeded.

Grrrrr. I, too, have spent many frustrating hours on the phone with Comcast, on different issues.

In this case it sounds like the computer (lack of codes) is driving customer service, instead of the other way around. It might be worth sending a copy of the print ads and description of your efforts to the state attorney general - you may not get the 19.99 yourself, but if they field a lot of complaints about Comcast, Comcast may be forced to improve their practices.

How frustrating. I heard Comcast tracks comments online and contacts dissatisfied customers so maybe you will hear from them. I have a longstanding love / hate relationship with Comcast. They've argued with me about whether we have Bravo ( yes we do!) and they have refused to allow me to make changes to the account since DH is on the account and my credit card is on file. We've even gone in person to wait in long angry lines to assure them that I need to be on the account? Good luck!

Do be careful with Comcast. We had agreements with them for service for years... I mean like 10 or more years. When we first got their internet service, we had their router installed and swapped it out for one that we owned. I took their router to one of their offices and turned it in and got a receipt for it. I keep records for umpteen years... not too organized, but the shoe boxes do have years on them. As soon as Verizon Fios became available in our neighborhood... I think 2006... we terminated with Comcast and got a contract with Verizon. The difference in service was incredible.

I thought nothing more about it until all of a sudden we becan getting calls from a collection agency regarding what we owed to Comcast. We didn't owe them a penny! It turned out that they were charging us, without any notice about it, for their equipment (which they said we never returned to them). I had returned their cable box and wires and had receipts. They said it was a modem they wanted. Well I went searching and found that 10 year old receipt and settled the matter fast.

What would have happened if I could not find that old receipt? They wanted over $50 from us... plus collection agency charges!

Another kicker to this is that the collection agency is owned by Comcast too. They know nothing about service. Beware of Comcast!

We are year rounders in FL and went with ATT UVerse. We put our phones TV's and computers on it and it saved us alot of money. Good service too!

will they let you get 6 or so month service? I am currently paying for service in Wisconsin which i obviously am not getting. I liked Comcast because they would let you do a six month special and cancel at any time.

I have no choice as there are no other providers in the area. I have been surprised at how good their service (to the house) has been - they have restored cable before electricity came back on in most instances.

I've not had an issue to complain to them about so will be wary when that occurs... I do have a beef with them for letting my SIL have cable installed in our house while we were out of country, yet having to actually go down to their office to prove I am the homeowner to get anything else changed. Old beef, just saying ...

I have a long-standing bias against Comcast from what I saw in the 80s as aggressive and monopolistic practices. greedy would be my one-word summation.

when/if we get a choice, I may defect to UVerse quickly, but the bundled service we are receivign is good so it won't be because of product quality.

I think you could start a thread that says:
"totally disgusted with -insert name of cable company-"

Seriously, I bet the majority of us hate our cable providers for one reason or another. If there was real competition, things would be much better.

Yesterday i picked up a copy of our subdivion's monthly newspaper. there was the comcast ad for $19.99 a month for 6 months. i called and they tried to tell me it was over last month. Then the woman got sensible, she took my address, and she understood what I was saying without me spelling it several times (Sassafras) and spoke to her supervisor and they honored the price.

I'd be tempted to contact the HOA to try to get the bundled HOA price knocked down to the $19.99. Comcast should honor the deal for everyone.

the bundle is for tv service, it is actually $11 a month and the contract is up next July so they are renegotiating. if they go with a different server, I don't know if I could get Comcast internet anymore.

My hubby works at Comcast but does not have the ability to do anything in FL. Tell them that you want to cancel the service and they will transfer you over to retention. The retention dept has special codes that regular reps will not have access to.
