I'm checking into the Suites at Hershey on memorial day weekend and it looks like i'll have 4 kids with me...Now with 4 kids i know i won't be able to get them to sit quietly the whole time(though hopefully we'll be out of the room 70%-80% of the time) so i'm considering asking for a bottom floor room....But, when you get a lower floor in these places, you tend to hear everything above you...

Soo, what do you usually do when traveling with kids on vacation?

  • Ask for a top floor, so you don't have to hear the noise, forget the neighbors, its YOUR vacation
  • Ask for a bottom floor, you don't want to be the cause of ruining anyone elses vacation, who cares if you can sleep

Suites at Hershey are pretty well insulated...relatively speaking. It's a Bluegreen property so most of the units are pre-assigned when people book. It's actually very difficult (and rare) to get them to move people.

I would just go with it and see what unit you get...they are all nice.

Advice from a teacher: Keep the kids outside as much as possible. Besides the park, keep them busy at the pool, and whatever outside activities are available at the resort. An hour or 2 before bedtime, put in a Disney movie and pop some popcorn, then put them to bed at a decent time. Insist that they quiet down during the movie. If anyone doesn't cooperate - send them to bed early as an example.

I think the pool maybe off, i'm hoping the outdoor playgrounds are open to pass the time between Hershey park and Dutch Wonderland ...One of the kids coming has leukemia(6yr old boy) and honestly, i have no idea how safe any of this is...unless i can slip away with his sister(8yrs old) and my daughter(6yrs old) (best friends since birth), but i don't know if that would be fair to him

Ride, I am seeing a different side of you! I hope you have a blast with the 4 kids- is the other Dad going too? Best advice on the boy with leukemia is to ask the parent and/or doctor what the restrictions are- it depends where he is in the chemo cycle whether he is likely to experience bruising or risking infection.

Denise, I love your advice. I also recommend letting each child chose the movie on a different night- that way they all get a movie that they want. I also stay away from caffeinated or sugary beverages,

I recommend liquor. Puts 'em out like a light. <kidding>

Run 'em silly. See that tree in that field over there?
Whoever goes round the tree and back the fastest, gets a prize.
Give 'em all something for trying.

Also, bring ear plugs or an MP3 player to deal with the shrieking.

Don't worry about it! The kids will LOVE Hershey and so will you!
I've been there more times than I can remember, and usually it was with one of my daughters soccer teams. Sure other parents were there but it was loud!!

Of course playing 2 or 3 soccer games then going to the park tends to tire them out a little.
And the alcohol ( for the dads) works as well!

c'mon, I couldn't have been the only one that thought this was funny.

Hard to say. See, you're only talking to yourself
