To buy or to wait

I am looking for my first TS, we have decided to buy an RCI point resort. My question is, I'm looking at a resort in an area we probably won't visit, but their in the VRI system at a good value. Should we buy or wait for something to come buy in an area that we would frequent. Thank for any info.

My points resort is in Australia. I'm never going there. I bought because it offered me the price and low mf combination that made sense.

How Come You Want V. R. I. If You Don't Plan On Going To The Timeshare ?

I'm looking at a resort in an area we probably won't visit, but their in the VRI system at a good value.

Two of our (resale) timeshares are managed by VRI under contract to their respective independent, owner-controlled homeowner associations.

VRI does a good job, so I can see why you'd be looking for a timeshare to buy that's run by VRI.

But since you want RCI Points & don't plan on going to the timeshare you'll be buying, isn't VRI or non-VRI pretty much mox nix ?

V. R. I. = Vacation Resorts International.

Vacation Resorts International -- VRI for short -- is a timeshare resort management company. Sometimes people refer to timeshare resorts that VRI manages as VRI Resorts.

The alphabet soup of timeshare-related abbreviations gets semi-confusing at times.

I am not familiar with RVI.

So it goes.

As usual, Alan's info in the preceding posts is both correct and sound.

You may possibly be a bit confused about the relatively new VRI internal exchange program (called VRI*ety), which is available to owners of weeks at VRI managed resorts. VRI*ety enables owners (in theory) to trade their week at their VRI managed resort with some other available week offered (i.e., deposited with VRI) by an owner at some other VRI managed resort. The program is relatively new and is still a "work in progress"...
