Hello everyone - I'm a newbie here so please forgive my ignorance...

I've been lurking for a long time and am finally involved in purchasing my first Marriott timeshare (resale, of course!!) :)
I was wondering what everyone felt about the necessity of purchasing title insurance. The company we are using has offered title insurance for $235.00 or a quick search for $99.00. The timeshare price was $6,800 (Cypress Harbour annual special season).
I'd appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks!!
Theresa

Sounds as if the net for the insurance is only $136.00, for that I would certainly take it.

Cypress Harbor is in Orange county FL. They have a great website where you can search public records (deeds, mortgages). While I am not offering legal advice, if your search shows that the seller bought directly from Marriott with no open mortgages or liens, you should be okay without the insurance as the chain of title should be pretty clean. Just make sure the current deed transferring ownership to you is good.

We didn't bother with title insurance for our $7500 purchase at MGV.
