Has anyone had an issue with the the Titanium Elite status from Presidential points disappearing? I was checking into a hotel in FL and she said something about Platinum. I just asked is she had my Bonvoy number attached to my reservation? She said, "yes". Sure enough I went home eventually and pulled up on the computer. Platinum. I called them and they said that I needed to call the timeshare phone line. I called and they said that they had no record of me being Titanium and that only one person in the household have use that perk. I said, "oh, my husband is Titanium for Life, so he was never using this perk. She said, we we can put in a request to give you that in December, that happens once a year. I'm like- you took it away from me, why would I wait until December. She said, we have no record of you being Titanium. What? I asked to go higher. She said there is no higher in her dept. She then gave me a customer advocate number. That guy was great. He believed me, but had no history. I emailed him emails from my stay 6 weeks earlier that said Welcome and my status. I also sent emails from January 2025 that said that I had been titanium for four years.

He called back two days later and said that they have restored the status. I, honestly, feel like I was really lucky to have been given his number. It really seemed like a dead end street. How do they lose a history? We were headed to Rome and I felt like a fraud for having told them that we were both Titanium in hopes of an upgrade. They were great, but lesson learned..... the night upgrade request certificates were in a "different" view that Rome hotel couldn't see. It taught me to email hotel on momentous hotel reservations. The Titanium Elite 800 number fixed it and Rome could see. We got a beautiful upgrade.

Is it possible you've just been earning Titanium status based on Elite Nights all these years and the primary owner for Bonvoy on the account was always your spouse? How many nights did you stay in 2024?

99% we use his points, so I had maybe 2 stays in my name without him on college visits. Good try though! We had two rooms at the Surf Club this year, so I put one on my Bonvoy number. LOL I'm sure we've had a few low end stays that I've used his miles and he wasn't there, but certainly not for my account, so taking mine away for misuse wouldn't be a explanation.

It would be less of a mystery if it was a January or such, but literally was the beginning April through the end of May that the change happened!

Poof!

Timing may not be as strange as you think. Marriott had a bunch of issue with Titanium and United that didn't get resolved until mid-May. There was some issues with Titanium status not showing up so in that clean up of IT they may had got you by accident.

Same thing happened to us.
They automatically switched the primary owner to my husband (I didn’t even know he had a hotel Marriott acct number), he’s never used it, he’s always with me but I’m not always with him so wanted it in my name.

Everything has always been in my name since 2006 for all the T/S and 2010? for titanium from chairman club, then today I see I’m platinum elite only while checking something else.

I don’t know why, but I was able to call & she got a supervisor to help her fix it, but it took 55 minutes on the phone, just weird.

We didn’t have anything United attached to Bonvoy or Abound, so that shouldn’t have been it this time but who knows.

This thread has me thinking.... I am a lifetime titanium with Bonvoy. I am also the primary on our MVC holdings. Thus I have titanium status through MVC. Is there a reason I should not move my wife to the MVC primary so she gets the elite nights added to her Bonvoy account? Additional elite nights mean nothing to me. Am I missing something?? Thanks

We moved our primary Bonvoy on MVC to my wife's account years ago. I am lifetime Titanium, she is lifetime Gold close to lifetime Platinum but Titanium by way of MVC. It mainly adds value if you're not together, if you have more than one unit at a time and for future considerations if something happens to the other person.

Do you regularly hit 75 Elite Night Credits per year? Do you do that my having one or more of the Bonvoy credit cards? IT can be good to have her setup to get the Elite status from MVC ownership as years in a status is one of the criteria to reaching Lifetime status. So it would help to get her started now. If you are gularily hit 75 nights a year, then you only have a few to 12 months where you won't get a lot of the benefits of Titanium when you put all stays in her name. After that first year, she will just have Titanium from nights stayed.

Elite nights are still important as getting to 75 in a year will earn you a Choice Benefit which you can select a free night award certificate.

Also realize that Lifetime Status and nights stayed can not be transferred upon death. Many widows (and widowers) realize too late that all those nights they stayed and traveled with their spouse earned them no lifetime status and they are starting from scratch.

Keep in mind that she can't earn Lifetime Titanium, but can hold it with the MVC ownership. If the timeshares are ever sold, her status would disappear unless you got her to a lifetime tier.

Thanks for your responses. We do have a Marriott Visa. We use it to pay our MF's and anytime we stay at a Marriott property. We do not reach the 75 elite nights. Though I think for your other reasons I will make my wife the primary. Is this change only available to be done in December? Do I just call owner services? Thanks.

You can call (or chat) and make the change any time. Though it only updates once a years which I understand happens sometime early in the new year.
