The element that is missing, and often perplexing for travelers, is when tipping is expected, as how much. Do you tip the person who shines your shoes? who holds the door for you at a hotel? Who retrieves your car at a parking lots? The guide on a tour? The person who helps board or disembark a boat? Airport shuttle drivers?
