1)Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where?
Yes, Hawaii. Specifically Kauai.
2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time?
Home resort at least half the time!
3) What are your 5 top trade destinations? I’m not sure.
4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself? 5 minimum always, sometimes 7, could be up to 9 (2 sets of grandparents or cousins)
5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule?
We have school schedule but that doesn’t stop us from travel! We have had the kids skip whole weeks before. In my opinion these experiences are more important for my kids than trivial school weeks. When/if they do college I know there might be a little more restrictions. We have a while.
6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance? Sometimes. I would say we for sure plan 8 months out.
7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time? Yes
8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars? 4-5
9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing? We can afford up to $20k up front without financing, but we are looking to spend no more than ~$5k
10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year?
We can afford whatever. If we are locked in I would plan 6 months out for paying if I needed to.
11) Are you a detail oriented planner?
I’m a Type A planner with type B tendencies on certain things
12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?
Yes.
It’s important to note we are relatively new MVC points members. We have 2500 a year plus a huge bonus we got when buying in (7500). We are in our 2nd year and our buy in is already almost paid off. So we will soon enough just have maintenance fees from that.
The reason I am inquiring here is because we have taken two trips in the past two years to Kauai and we are in love. It has everything we want for our family so we are wanting to secure a resale deeded week.
Does it seem silly that we want a deeded week when we have points? We will use the week certainly almost every year and then have the points for other destinations. We are fortunate enough that we can do 2-3 full week vacations each year if we really wanted. I am finding we do two usually week long trips and then sprinkle in a couple 4 day trips.
