Timeshare Points And Inflation

May 2nd, 2025

Inflation is one of the banes of life we all have to live with, as the old expression goes, the only thing guaranteed to come down is the rain! Timeshare ownership also suffers from inflation, we all know that annual maintenance fees only ever go up, but that’s only one facet of inflation impacting on […]

In Worldmark the number of Credits needed to Book a Unit at Resort "X" is set when the Resort first opens and does not change. So if it takes 10,000 Credits to Book a 2 bedroom Unit in High Season when the Resort first opened in 2000 it takes 10,000 Credits today. Now Brand new Resorts added to the Worldmark System in 2025 will take more than 10,000 Credits to Book a 2 bedroom Unit in High Season. It might take 12,000 or 15,000 Credits but then that will never change. It costs more to build a new Resort in 2025 or to purchase and upgrade a Resort in 2025 than in 2000.

Yeah I dont know of any systems that change the number of points to reserve the same week year after year. I’m sure there are some out there but all the big ones have fixed points values associated with the corresponding week. And if they did up the points for said week then the owner of said week would get more points for their week to use in the system. I know the timeshare industry is full of shady practices but some of these articles go over the top to try and paint a negative picture. As someone who gets a lot of value out of timeshares maybe I just get a little defensive about my hobby. :)
