Some family members think it is strange of me to take the linens off the beds, place dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and take out the trash before we depart our timeshare. I thought everyone was suppose to do those things. Does anyone here do any of those things? Just wondering.

I never strip the beds. Usually I take out the trash, run the dishwasher if needed, and pile all the used towels in a heap on the floor.

In most units there is a folder with instructions on various things, and usually there is a check out guide with things to do on checking out.

Here's a question...my last TS stay we had a two bedroom with three beds, we only used two of those bed...do you strip the sheets off a bed you don't use? We did, but thats because the instructions said 'strip all sheets off the beds'

Some timeshare where we stayed a week recently -- I forget exactly which timeshare -- had a little piece of paper among the in-unit reading materials that asked departing guests to put linens & towels on the floor & put dishes in the dishwasher & start the dishwasher.

That's customarily what we were doing at timeshares all along, so seeing it in black & white just confirmed our suspicions.

Mainly, though, we just make sure we are out of there by the official check-out time.

We do the whole deal too, but not sheets from unused beds. We put the sheets and towels in the bathtub; rather than on the floor. Someplace we stayed asked for that and we just stuck with it. All the trash is out and the dishwasher is running when we leave.

As a general rule of thumb we do this as well, as a matter of routine. Most TS resorts have specific instructions in the guest services binder, however. These three items are generally the basics and are standard in most places we've stayed.

p.s. To the subsequent question, we do not strip beds not slept in.

Unless otherwise stipulated, we usually place the dirty sheets and towels on the bathroom floor, empty the trash, and start the dishwasher.

I, too, place the sheets and towels in the bathtub on checkout. Maybe the floor seems neater, but their GRAs (aka maids) can't accidentally slip or trip on something on the floor, like a washcloth they didn't see.

I also strip the sheets, remove towels and place everything at the front door before I leave. But I was wondering if the comforters are changed as well. They should be. So why do TS's only request that sheets be pulled?

I have always wondered about this as well. How often do they wash the blankets and comforters? I usually fold those and leave them either on the bed or a chair. I've seen the room change bundles being delivered and they did seem bulky enough to contain towels, sheets and blankets, but they are usually covered; so I can't see what's inside.

Thinking about it, I think Ill start leaving a $20 bill in an envelope for the cleaning staff too...Its a thankless job, and I bet they get paid crap...Its probably their second or third job they need to just make a living

I strip the used bedding, take out all the trash, put the used towels in the tub or shower and run the dishwasher the last night. I put all the dishes away before I leave the next morning. I don't usually leave a tip but make it easier on housekeeping by making the place look similar as when I arrived. I will even clean the microwave out if it gets splattered.
