The effects will be felt quickly so initially it will be worse. Once in control and people are relieved it will get better much more quickly then 2008, imo one year.
 
This has to be bad for the economy. I have seen economists on CNBC talking about the economy not going into reciession. Talk about whistling by the graveyard. The economy was growing at 2%. There is no way that at this time the economy is not in recession. In 2008 though there was a real fear of the total collapse of the economic system. The only way this matches that is if we are looking at a world where social distancing is a way of life. While most still seem to think a v shaped recovery is most likely I am of the other persuasion. It will take a long while for life to return to normal after this. The economy will adjust and the market will again march to higher levels.
 
I think the will technically be a 'recession' in 2nd and maybe 3rd quarter because of the obvious business pull back .. but the stock market will be ahead of that .. picking up steam before these lagging quarters end.
