This is why Canada has plenty of eggs — and the U.S. doesn't

When I worked at a Chicken Processing Plant (after High School and before College) I was one of 4 that took the chickens out of the stacked cages on the truck and hung them in the shackles upside down. We kept eggs cartons on the Catwalk as any eggs in the cages belonged to us. This was during the Summer. We started at 5:30am. We did 4 trucks per day. Each truck took about 2 hours. Never had a problem even though the eggs had been out of the chicken for up to 12 hours before I got them back to my Apartment. Once I got back to my Apartment I would gentling wash them in cool water to remove fecal matter. I have bought eggs all over the World. Never had a problem with non-refrigerated eggs.
