Thinking of visiting the island of Maui

Hi folks;

Thinking of visiting Maui in Hawaii and want to stay with Marriott.

Can someone point out the differences between MMO and MMI ?

Does one have an advantage over the other?

MMO is the old section, which is a hotel conversion. (Very well done, but still a conversion.) MM1 is the Lahaina/Napili Towers, which are purpose built villas.
MMO has only a limited kitchen and no laundry in the units. MM1 has a full kitchen and laundry in the units. Both have excellent views of the ocean if you get an ocean front or ocean view unit.

Which one is preferable depends a lot on whether you have a studio or a larger villa. The old section has larger studios and I therefore prefer it for a studio, because the Lahaina/Napili studios do not have the advantage of a full kitchen or private laundry facilities. For a 1BR or larger, I much prefer MM1, although you would enjoy either very much.

As pointed out, the biggest advantage of MM1 over MMO is the full kitchen and in room laundry in the 1BR or larger units. MMO 1BR units have two bathrooms and the 2BR units have three. That can be a plus for many as well.

MMO has bigger Lanais and that is very nice certain time of the year. We love the Lanai in the spring but with shade and MMO has deeper Lanais on the ocean front.

It may be too hot and humid during the summer so a Lanai may not be that important then, I guess.
