Thinking of doing a NY trip for Spring Break next year

Manhattan has been part of my life forever. You've received great advice. For figuring out how to get from one place to another and see your walking, bus, subway options, the Citymapper app is a wonderful tool.

Grew up in Queens. Worked in the city for many years. At 55 I was able to escape the Rat Race and ended up in Idaho for a few years. Now I am back east within a 2 hour drive.

As others have noted find a reasonable lot north of 57th St and park for the duration of your stay. Just know that if you do enter south of 60th St you will get a toll charge by way of you license plate for $9.

Be prepared for bridge and Tunnel tolls as you cross by way of any river crossing into the city.

Definitely park in a cheaper location for the duration of your stay. Driving in Manhattan is treacherous at times. I have to sometimes drive in for one reason or another and I have survived. I have no choice at times.

Yes NYC is very alive, electric, vibrant, cultural. I take it for granted at this point. Sad to say that I have not yet visited the 9/11 memorial. However I was in Midtown on 9/11. Did visit and had to attend some training soon after 9/11 in Oct of 2001. So perhaps I just don't need to be reminded about that event.
One other attraction I actually want to visit is https://summitov.com/tickets/

Not sure if this is part of City Pass? Has anyone done this Summit One ?
Summit One is not included in City Pass. It was a great experience, made better by purchasing VIP tickets and skipping the lines and having your guide ask people to move away from the windows temporarily. Many arrive early afternoon and camp out in front of windows for sunset photos.

Here's an earlier post by @h2oflyboy describing the layout of the SP+ at The Residences as including a separate living room with a sofa bed.

Edited to add that his post #18 in that thread includes a floor plan for the SP+.

What do you mean by this? What’s the layout of the room?
The Studio has a separate room which contains a living room, and dining table w/ chairs. I believe there are only 2 of these rooms - and coincide with a staircase. The bedroom has a door. The bathroom can only be reached via the bedroom.

Hundreds of people pay the cheap day price and stay for the sunset! I’ve been twice - the inflatable ball room is more for younger children or adults that like to hit people with balls. The line for general admission is insanely long - like ‘TSA gov’t shut-down’ long. I bypassed it the last time. I took my grandchildren: a 13yo, 11yo, and a 7yo.

I’ve suggested The Edge as “the one” skyscraper to do. Their proximity to Hudson Yards’ Vessel, and starting point of The High Line is unbeatable to any other skyscraper.

Yes! Do it! I took my boys to NYC for Spring Break years ago, along with my mom. We had been to DC the previous year and took Amtrak both times. We left our car in South Bend, IN at the station. We did stay at the Manhattan Club. It might have been our best trip! So much to see and enjoy and the food was great!
