We are out sailing, still close inshore off Los Angeles. Jets taking off overhead from LAX, the power plant at Redondo Beach visible to our left, we are in the city.

But off to our right, who has come by to travel with us a bit? A group of Pacific Whiteside dolphin. This happens all the time, but we never get tired of it. Every time it is worth a photo and a Facebook post.

So TUGgers, what things happen to you time and time again, that never get old?

The news last night had helo shots of a pod of dolphin (looked like white sided) of about a 100 or so off of Malibu.
Makes me miss the beach.

When I lived in Newport I would see dolphin often, body surfed with them occasionally.

my sweet doggie comes up to lick my hand "just because"

We have a good dog one, too: we have two daschunds, one big, one little. When the little daschund comes in from the backyard, she makes an enormous leap to clear the threshold of the door, even though it is no more than an inch high and she coudl easily step over it. Still, every time, she revs ups and takes a flying leap over the threshold, kicking her hind legs out like a gazelle. It's endlessly amusing.

I may be getting older, but dragging a knee through a nice turn on the racetrack on my Ducati is timeless. Better than $ex.

Then again, doing so on the Yammy is just about equally satisfying ;)

The sound of my kids laughing. Corny, but true.

The sight of a bald eagle or a great blue Heron flying overhead in my little city! We just found out there are a couple beavers living in a creek in our downtown just a short walk from my DD's dance studio as well. So cute.

Every morning when my husband drives my kids to school he always mentions the view of the mtns from a particular road as he heads into Snoqualmie with them. He tells them how lucky they are to live in such a beautiful place...

But I have to agree with Rose...the hugs my girls give me every morning when they come down the stairs is priceless and never gets old!!

LOVE this story. I also have two dachshunds. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Often one will stand outside when I open the slider as if contemplating how she could possibly overcome that, as you said, one inch hurdle. She will back up..and do the smallest little jump..and in she goes.

There is absolutely nothing that gets old with my dogs even if it's something they do day after day. They are a source of great joy for our family.

Funny how many mentions of dogs. My first thought was also about my dogs. I love their enthusiastic greetings when I come home.

I wish we had a LIKE button on TUG. So many things/pics I like...

My 21 and 24 yr olds both laugh out loud when they are watching something funny on TV. Only 24 yr old lives at home now (sort of). So when I hear them laugh out loud (I can hear them if I'm in the kitchen and they are down stairs in the family room) it warms me to the bone.

Watching sunsets or sunrises over any ocean. Listening to waves break anywhere.

The sounds of my parents snoring, even now listening to my Dad's CPAP (he is napping).

And, yes, coming home to my dog.

The smell of fresh brewed coffee, especially in the morning.

This is a GREAT one. I feel the same way...and the funny thing is, I don't drink coffee. I just love the smell especially in a restaurant in the morning. It's the smell of a new day, a renewal, a chance to do good things. Yep, I get all that from the simple smell of coffee :)

Great pic/posts. With all the crazyness in the world it's great to see/read some good stuff. Keep them coming.

Charleston

Walking the streets of Charleston, SC. I can take the same route for days on end and alway spot something I haven't noticed before.
