There really is a Zoltar!

Cliff does not watch TV. If I holler “Lester’s on!”, “Shep’s on!” or “60 Minutes’s on!”, he will watch the news. Since he doesn’t watch TV, he is oblivious to commercials. Except that for some reason the Zoltar ads for Liberty Mutual have struck his fancy, especially the ad where the lady frees Zoltar and he cycles away on a unicycle. He stops whatever he is doing and says “my ad is on” and watches until it’s done. Yesterday we were in Old Town San Diego and stumbled across Zoltar, I’d thought it was completely made up for the ad, but apparently not!
 
You know about the Zoltar in the Tom Hanks movie Big, right? That movie put him on the map!

No, it's been way too long since I've seen that movie. Is that what made him "big"?

Yes! I have seen a few of those, including one at Casa Bonita in Lakewood, CO, 17 miles from my house.
 
Wow, there is really a Zoltar. Does he really off in the sunset after he is freed. LOL. :hi:
 
The original was Zoltan (Speaks) that was made in the '60's

You would pick up the receiver and listen to Zoltan's prediction.

It was the inspiration for the movie Big's Zoltar.

Yes! And I'm sure that's how Zoltar got into the Liberty Mutual commercials. If you saw Big, you remember him instantly.
