Staying at The Ranahan near Breckenridge, CO over Labor Day week.

We normally stay in Breck at Valdoro/Grand Colorado/Grand Lodge/Grand Timber Lodge so this is our first time in the Breck 'Burbs!

Ratings and photos look very nice...II Elite Rating.

Only one TUG review...anyone have experience staying there?

Will definitely be doing hiking to catch the fall Colorado leaf colors...hoping its a good week for those.

I was considering doing the same thing that you're doing this summer and choosing this different location to stay in Breckenridge. This former Welk property looks very inviting. However I discovered that there is extensive construction going on on the lot next to the resort (per a notice posted by the resort on II) so being a noise sensitive type I passed but I just wanted you to be forewarned so you aren't surprised when you arrive. I'm sure the front desk people could fill you in on the details if it mattered enough to you to call in advance.

Thanks much for this...will definitely check it out

I have stayed there probably 15 times since it opened in late 2019. (all 2-3 day trips); the most recent was late June. The current construction is not very disturbing, (high-end residential). The biggest issue might be the dust during winds. There are multiple hot tubs around the pool area. If you fish, it is adjacent to the river. The resort is nice but incomplete. The plan calls for a second wing to be built, adjacent to the south parking lot. There are also plans for expanded food and recreational offerings. These were to be built out in the basement that is currently unused. So it is pretty small right now. Like many Breckenridge resorts, they do provide a shuttle to town.
Since you are planning on hiking, you can take the bike path North, about 1/2 mile, and connect with the CO trail. There is a parking lot at the western trail or walk on the trail under the road to connect on the trail to the east. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

@RunCat Thanks so very much! Wow that is a lot of stays there! Any good eating options right in that area or mostly on into Breck?

My sister stayed there this past ski season during the ice sculpture exhibition, and she thought it was nice. But she said the same thing about Christie Lodge. She didn't say anything more than "it was nice." Typical of my sister.

I have another week for February but will probably retrade it. I don't think any of the family really wants it. My sister and her husband will be on a Viking Cruise somewhere that week, and we will be heading to Maui just before.

nothing within walking distance. Rumor is the new development may put in some retail. Since this resort is on the northern edge of town, Frisco is also a close option for dinner; albeit without shuttle.
What kind of room do you have? large or small 1-bed? The large is quite spacious. The small is similar to the small at Peak 7. (There is also a standard 2-bed option)

IMO, the Ranahan is much nicer than Christie Lodge. But I do like the resorts in Avon due to the ease of walking. (usually stay at SMV or Westin Riverfront)

Enjoying our first Ranahan stay...got the larger one bedroom with a pool/mountain view. Double bathroom vanity and stand alone soaking tub and separate shower. Balcony is huge with two tables totaling seating for 10. Staff is very attentive. Shuttle service basically on-call. Housekeeping every other day. Bar on site has happy hour and morning coffee/hot breakfast items. All pools and hot tubs open and the indoor waterslide/splashpad will be excellent for future stays with #TheGrands . Very impressed. As others have mentioned there is residential construction adjacent but at least during our stay, no active construction activity.

I am a huge fan of more timeshares being built at prime ski towns like Breck and Avon. So, am cheering on Hyatt/Welk for building this. Is the smaller one bedroom a lot different in size/comfort than the larger one bedroom? Have you tried trading in via II to get the larger - its not easy to see which size the 1BR exchange from just searching on II.

Having said all that, I can't imagine staying there during ski season as it is so far from both the skiing and main street, even with their shuttle. First world problems, I know - I guess we're spoiled.

I'm the same. I almost stayed at Ranahan but as soon as Hyatt Main St was available I switched. Nice to know it's still a good option if nothing closer is available.

This was an II trade but I was also not able to determine which 1BR setup we were going to get...so glad it was the bigger one. Here is the room code from my II trade. Unit: UUU1L (1 Bedroom)

October is probably a good time for and exchange in the Rockies and getting a better room. Breck use to have a discount book for the restaurants in town that was good for the spring and fall shoulder seasons. In the past we’ve made good use of that book. If memory serves me correctly it was called Dining Passport

Any chance you could post some pictures of the room? Always good to see real world pictures that aren't staged by the professionals

Oh wow it's way nicer than the Hyatt Main St

Very nice! Thanks for the update and photos, @The Colorado Kid! It looks like a nice resort.

Looks like a great resort for relaxing and enjoying the area.

I’m guessing they’ll have a shuttle to get skiers back and forth to the gondolas in ski season. Since it’s a new enough resort, for the next 5 to 10 years it might make exchanging into Breck during ski season easier. At least until the resort nears sell out.

Are you taking a tour? It would be interesting to know the prices. Grand Colorado is asking nearly $30,000 for their studio units in summer value season, which is the last week of May, June, last 2 weeks of August and maybe the first 2 weeks September (I think)

We are unable to tour this time...I was also quite curious on pricing . The concierge/tour booker went on and on about how Hyatt is consolidating Hyatt Residence Club all under one umbrella for 60 total destinations. The NorthStar? location they described in Tahoe sounded amazing with ski lifts mere steps right off the lobby.

Maybe when we’re in town next year I’ll allow them to rope me into a tour. Honestly though, I’ve never been approached or even seen an enticement to tour a timeshare in Breckenridge.

Now if it were Orlando or Las Vegas we’d have to have a cattle prod to keep them at a distance

I agree, I've stayed at Hyatt Main Street Station several times and was never approached for a meeting. They do have a sign with prices for weeks that are non-ski season.
