We booked a studio at the Quin for a single night stay earlier this week. I am from NYC and have stayed at all of the other HGVC resorts there and many other hotels in the city and so I am aware that NYC rooms tend to be small. But.....the studio we were assigned on the third floor had to be the smallest room yet. Barely enough room to get around the King size bed. There was a very small single window that was frosted over looking the wall of another building. Certainly the worst of the rooms compared against the other HGVC properties. I can't speak for the other rooms at the Quin but this was tiny. Bed was comfortable and staff were polite. We often stay in the city for one or two nights several times per year so we often book a studio for our short stay. The Quin is now crossed off our list. Our favorite of the HGVC properties in NYC is the Central, followed by the Residences, then W57th (which has a short stay rate).

Was it a studio or a studio plus? We have the same impression of the studio plus rooms but haven’t looked at a studio.

We visited the Central as we happened to be walking past it and it seemed quite nice. Our preference is for W. 57th as it is (to us) a better location. Also, since we own there, we get lounge access. And we stay long enough to avoid the fee, but that does matter.

The Quin has as good a location as W. 57th, of course, and the only reason for us not to stay is the lack of lounge access.

Cheers.

I've stayed in a studio premiere plus, which has some extra space (65 sq feet more than a Studio STD) with a small sofa in it. I'm not sure if they're all located on the corners of the building, but it had 2 large picture windows and a narrow one in the bathroom (none frosted). Not sure if it would be worth the extra points to you or not.

We stayed there for three nights this summer and I reserved two Studio Premiers (STX). Our room was big enough by (NYC standards). We had a decent sized sofa in our room, but the room my sister ended up with didn't. I never saw their room but they seemed happy with it and have traveled to NYC frequently. I liked the location a lot and there were a couple of seating areas in the lobby that we could hang out in while not out and about. Our three night stay was just over 3000 points ($300 in MF's), so I think it's a great deal given hotel prices in NY. I'd stay there again.

They’re not all on the corners. See post #85 in the resort info sticky - it includes a floor plan typical of floors 4-16; 3 is different because of the owners lounge & 17-19 are the penthouses.

Did you mean post 86? I see that there was an image added to that post, but it doesn't seem to load for me.

I stayed in Studio Premier Plus at The Quin in August and it was an appropriately sized room, bigger than Studio Plus at W57. Speaking of W57, I stayed there two weekends ago - my first post-Covid stay there (as I have been mostly staying at HCNY, The Central, or The Quin) and I was a little disappointed. One thing I’ve always appreciated owning since 2010 had been the stability of the staff — check in, concierge, doormen, and lounge workers. There was always a spark of familiarity when coming back especially as a home property. I know things change (especially post-Covid) but staff was completely different and 2 people I dealt with were fairly terse and not super friendly. There was minimal recognition of ownership (I own 3 weeks there) or status (Max Premier Plus, formerly was Elite Premier). I don’t require the puffery, but it’s a nice touch after spending large sums of money for their product. I stayed 4 nights in 1BR Penthouse (2601) and room was just okay and seems to be showing some wear. I was told there is daily housekeeping in the penthouse rooms but only had them stop by one time late afternoon on the 3rd day. Lounge was the same as I remembered. More annoying was that I had 2 family members that I booked for the following weekend with guest certificates in a one bedroom premier and a studio plus. The one bedroom premier was an accessible room with a large wheelchair lift in the middle of the living area. She was very disappointed with the room and I called on her behalf and was basically told ‘tough luck.’ Again, as an owner, I was accustomed to better service at W57. (End rant ;)

Our reservation says "studio"

You’re right, it’s 86 now. The index in the first post still has it as 85—must have been one added before it. In any case, there are studio premier plus rooms on the 6th Ave and W 57th St sides that aren’t in the corners.
