Going to Ocean Walk in Daytona ocer Thanksgiving. I sure hope they have gotten the theft problem resolved there. We have visted there, but never actually stayed there. Any really good eats close by?

In my opinion, the Chart House on Marina is the best restaurant. It's very expensive though. Caribbean Jacks over on Ballough off of Mason is pretty good as well as Ocean Deck. You can walk to Ocean Deck it's right past the pier. There are a couple of restaurants in the Ocean Walk mall, Bubba Gumps (food is just ok, you are paying for the novelty) and a wing house. Oyster Pub over on Seabreeze is also a decent place to eat. You can always go to Pancake House across the street for breakfast too.

Try Ivy Lane Bistro, Mr. Dunderdak's (good German deli in Volusia Mall), Lighthouse Landing near Ponce Inlet. Wife and I both sick as dogs after eating seared tuna appetizer at Caribbean Jack's. Could be a coincidence. Caribbean Jack's was just fine otherwise.

Don't Miss High Tides

It's on the beach just north of Ormond in Flagler Beach.

Excellent food - we eat there at least once every trip.

We really enjoy Ocean Walk for our annual trip to the Turkey Rod Run.

Have fun!

We'll be there for 2 nights on the way to Orlando, FL the same time. Great fun at the Turkey Trod.

I'd suggest calling the resort.

If you both got sick eating the same raw fish, it's almost certainly NOT coincidental. It's spoiled fish...or some other ingredient.

That can happen at the finest restaurants, and I'm sure it happens rarely at Caribbean Jack's...but something caused it, and the fact that you both got hit tells you that it wasn't a crazy fluke.

We tend to spend alot of time at the Oyster Pub on Seabreeze (we are a large group - 20+ and multigenerational, it works for us).

Regarding the theft issues, I would not be overly concerned. Awareness and common sense should keep you safe. We were there in August. We had no problems. We've never had any problems in the parking garage (I don't ever leave anything in site in the car, it's either in the trunk or in the room). Propping the door open with the dead bolt is probably not a good idea (we had 5 rooms and were doing that constantly - not recommended). Don't leave your door propped open with your laptop on the dining room table, that kind of stuff. Don't take money to the pool or beach, credit cards, etc. It amazes me sometimes what people leave on a pool chair or beach towel.

Ocean Walk (Daytona Beach in general) is one of my very favorite places and I always enjoy it. Have fun!

Thanks for all the comments. We have never stayed there prior to our upcoming stay. We did visit there two summers ago and it was packed. We are definitely looking forward to it.

If you have a car and venture out of Daytona go to Dixie Crossroads in Titusville. Great seafood. I really like the grilled rock shrimp.
