After researching what we had signed I realized that we were sold an HVC contract in addition to HGV Max, when what we mainly wanted access to was HGVC properties the salesman was happy to show us those properties and leave out the fact that they were not actually part of the "U.S. Collection" we would be buying into and would have a reduced booking window for them. Thanks to the helpful users here I'm now considering buying a HGVC resale deed with almost 3x the yearly points for less than half the upfront cost and about the same yearly maintenance fee as what this retail contract would have been, so thank you!

Glad you were able to rescind in time! Welcome to tug!

Good for you! Now you can buy resale. It's like a gift to find out about resale.

so very happy you found TUG in time to rescind!

I’m so happy you realize that you did not purchase HGVC but HVC and that you saved $17,000.00 Dollars. Outstanding Job.

This is the reality that really boils my blood. In general, I wish HGV well. I own HGVC deeds. More power to ya HGV. I know you make most of yoru profit by fleecing naive newbies, but people do what people do. But this %$*#? I don't think even used-car salesppl do this kind of thing as their daily diet.

Just another reason to refuse to go to presentations. Not that I'd ever sign anything in one, not that I'd really even pay attention to their shyster shshshshshsh, but if I did pay attention for a few minutes and noticed one of these scams being thrown my way, I'd stop the show right there and tell the sorry SOB exactly what I thought of him or her. ... "and shove your gift sideways"

Maybe the #1 reason HGV "broadens its product line" (MBA-speak) by buying DRI & BG is so they have more square pegs to shove into round holes to confuse the crap out of the naive newbies (reality speak)

Welcome to TUG.... Enjoy the ride!

But you would have had access to those properties via HGV Max. So they weren't incorrect. That said, if you want access to HGVC properties, the best course of action is resale HGVC. Just understand that you won't get access to US Collection, or other HVC, properties that way.

Can you imagine a car salesman taking you for a test drive in a Ferrari, you sign all the paperwork and he hands you keys to a Yugo? :)

It's like the barkers at the fair, you want the big stuffed bear up to but get handed the little frog from under the counter, come back and win 10 more times to trade up to the bear!

the exploitation of the new hilton (diamond) (and hyatt/welk for that matter) rebranding is criminal....

This is why I take their free gift and never buy. I’ll take their money if they want to throw it at me.

exactly what I was thinking ... and he swapped the VIN from the Ferrari to the Yugo in the world of "points"
Even in that case, you at least got "a car". In too many cases - especially with like Diamond / HGVC - it's more like getting a horse at the end - it doesn't actually go where you want to go and is really kind of a completely different thing. What I still have trouble understanding is how the complete lies told by salespeople here is just par for the course.
