When I found this board back in Feb. I was so desperate to be rid of my timeshare. I ask questions and decided to pay to join so I could place an ad.

It was the best money I ever spent. I had a buyer in just a couple of weeks and then I found John Faeth on here to help with the closing. my goodness, John was such a dear. before he passed (right in the middle of our closing) he ask me to write a note on here and thank everybody for all the helpful words and advice and that is what I'm doing.

Thank you TUG board and members, I don't know how I would have ever got rid of my timeshare if it weren't for you all. and Thank you John and Lorelei. God bless the both of you. and for John Chase.. you gave John Faeth advice on this ROFR thing (John mentioned it to me) and I so appreciate you too.

I am finally rid of my Westgate timeshare!!!! I got my money and the deed has been changed over!!! at first I was mad because of Westgate buying it back, but since I didn't have to help with closing costs, I got a few more hundred dollars more than I would if the initial sale had gone through. and they didn't charge me a transfer fee of $150 either. so, with my case, it was good Westgate did do ROFR with my sale. all I can say is that I'm glad its over. I've been trying for four years to sell or give it away and got nowhere until I found this board.

anyways, I just wanted to tell you all thank you. and my family thanks you too. to all those who are trying to sell, I wish you luck, and those who are looking to buy a timeshare, research what you are getting into first.

Take care everybody, and happy timesharing! :hi: Linda

That's great news. I'm glad TUG helped you. I've certainly gotten tons of help here.

Linda, thanks so much for posting. That's a wonderful story and I'm so happy everything worked out so well for you.:)

Thanks for sharing your good news with us! Tuggers are definately the best and they have helped me as well so many times!

Fantastic story...glad to have you as a member here!

What's WestGate Going To Do With It ?

I am finally rid of my Westgate timeshare!
Now that WestGate bought back your timeshare via ROFR, the WestGate timeshare sellers will just sell that same timeshare to somebody else all over again if they can, right?

And for big bux, too.

Do you suppose whoever considers buying that timeshare next from WestGate will discover TUG in time to avoid some of the same kinds of trouble?

We can only hope so, eh?

Amen to that!

I tell you, I was so glad to see that letter from the Title co. saying that "Your transfer is now complete". seriously, that made me happier than seeing the enclosed check.

I never want to hear another word from Westgate. I'm half tempted to write them and tell them to quit sending me that stupid "Westgator" newsletter and that other magazine thing they send out that has pictures of that white haired old buzzard (with the initials D.S.) schmoozing with stars like Miss America and Sylvester Stallone. yep, hob nobbing with celebrities in expensive suits bought off the backs of people like me. sorry for ranting. it's just that all the troubles they caused me made me bitter. the very idea that they wouldn't take it back for free, then interfering with my sale and everything else just made me dislike them VERY much.

now, off to take their stupid name off my profile. :)

again, I appreciate you all so much! Linda

From what I have seen posted on TUGBBS, there are numerous Westgate owners who are very displeased. Good luck on your future vacations.

Thank you. :)
Usually, we vacation in Orlando and stay on Disney property. even when we had the timeshare the last few years we stayed at Disney. at least they treat us with respect and don't bother us once we check in.

I'll never stay at another timeshare resort. the very idea of being asked to buy into timesharing makes my stomach do flip flops. I'll take hotels and motels any day. I don't care not having a kitchen or washer or dryer. being left alone is more important to me after all this nonsense with Westgate.

The last straw was about 3 yrs back when I thought one of the managers (female) was going to attack me after forcing me with threats against my credit card if I didn't attend a "maintenance report" that turned into a sales pitch on my birthday of all days. I thanked her for ruining my birthday because we had plans and she had her fists clenched and jumped up and ran off.

all she did was make an idiot of herself, while I was as calm as a cucumber.
I had exchanged my week for another time. Interval International suggested a lawsuit for harassment.

I should have, but I just let it go and decided to sell the thing.

I am just glad we are out of it. I never thought we would get out, but we are free of it. Thank God. :)

Too Bad The Rotten Treatment You Got Soured You On All Timeshares.

I am ever so glad you are out from under, but equally sorry that your negative experiences turned you completely off all timeshares everywhere.

We've never -- as in not ever, not anywhere at any timeshare -- received that kind of treatment.

We've been given the old hard sell over & over -- but only when we've let ourselves go to a timeshare sales pitch with our eyes wide open, usually for the freebies.

Our actual experience of timeshares from staying at'm on vacation (at our own timeshares as well as at other people's on exchange) has been positive in all regards -- so much so that I have to believe what ruined it for you is the 1 particular timeshare company that gave you such a tough time.

Sometimes it takes me a while to catch on, but by now -- thanks to you & to others on TUG-BBS who've related what happened in your dealings with that particular timeshare company -- I can truthfully say I Get It.

Message received.

I'll make sure I keep on being a happy timeshare camper by staying away from U No Hoo.

Thanks for spelling it all out for the benefit of your TUG friends.

Linda, I'm happy you are relieved to be rid of your Westgate property, but sad you have such bad feelings about timesharing now. We could never bring ourselves to stay in hotel rooms again. We love our homes away from home, in Hawaii, Florida and Las Vegas and enjoy bringing our children and grandkids on vacation with us. We always have three extended trips to look forward to in addition to bonus weeks and getaways every year. TUG has helped us learn to buy resale and now that we own where we want to go, we don't have to depend on trading companies to reserve out time. In planning ahead, we have been fortunate to snag frequent flyer seats to paradise when we begin to experience aloha withdrawl. By the way, in the past we have traded into several Westgate properties in the Orlando area with I.I. and have also attended their famous sales presentations. If I recall, their claims were outrageous and we were often dismissed early, knowing more about wheeling and dealing then they did. Once they learned how much we paid for our timeshares, and how easy it was to grab one of their "precious" units without their costs, they knew we were not going to fall for their schemes. Thanks for posting and I wish you years of happiness without your timeshare.

I don't think all t/s resorts treat their owners like WG treated us. I'm sure most of them are very nice. I know we stayed in Destin FL. once on a getaway and it was one of the best vacations of my life. well, except for the skinny dippers in the big indoor pool that was right outside everyones room. ever see a skinny dipper do a canon ball? it's pretty funny.

I hope you all enjoy your t/s for many years to come. I tried it and found it to be too much trouble and I know if I ever wanted to stay in another one, I could probably rent one for what I pay in maint. fees, taxes, exchange fee, and exchange co. yearly membership fee. but, I never will. I still have use of my 2008 week at Westgate. I wouldn't even consider using it even though I will be in Orlando next month. I would rather stay in a tent out in the woods. (staying at Disney though)

Yep, many happy years of NON-timesharing for me. sighing a big breath of relief.

Since I'm finished, I'm logging out for good and deleting this board from my bookmarks. this is my last post since I am no longer a timeshare owner. :cheer:

Again I thank the TUG board and the members here. I wish you all the best and I wish you all happy experiences with your timeshares and many happy vacations to come. you all have helped me beyond words. may God bless you all.
