The vehicle is not polarizing
The owner of Tesla is polarizing
The CT is so easy to recognize
It has become the vehicle associated with Elon and people's dislike of him

In 2014 I admired his forward thinking
In 2024 I no longer admire him

For some yes, but for many, they have no idea what the vehicle is when they see it. Many videos on YT show people coming up and asking what it is, and who makes it. There's literally not a single reference or Tesla badge on any CT - only CT references - and even those aren't immediately obvious.

Elon is also polarizing without a doubt, and yet when I look at what he has done, as opposed to things he says, he is undoubtedly one of the most forward thinking leaders on the planet and is doing more to accelerate the transition to renewable transportation and a spacefaring civilization than anyone else by far. The man is a machine when it comes to innovation. Elon has ASD, so he's not exactly a normal person really, and will often rub people the wrong way with his blunt communication style and thought processes.

Not everybody is giving the finger to CT's

Not everybody is familiar with Elon

Only the people who are familiar with Musk's posts on Xitter have developed a dislike for him

Here in California there are plenty of people that have come to dislike him

Lucids, Rivians, Porsche Hybrids and EVs, have become the new upscale cars in Southern California

Saw one here in Iowa just 2 days ago (caught on my dashcam) . Yeah, couldn't make out any badging on the truck from the pics. First time I've seen one in person. Like I've said before, reminds me of something out of the "Mad Max" movies. In the rear video, the lady in the passenger seat in the car behind me was pointing it out to the driver in that car as it passed by.

I see lots of them here in SoCal, I have yet to see one used to carry anything like a normal pickup truck, I don't really see the attraction at that price.

Agreed - I am a day zero reservation holder and passed on the CT Foundation series. 100k+ is way too excessive for me. Even at the announced price of 80k it’s too expensive - though the higher trim 150/1500 series pickups are now all in that price range to be fair. I paid like $47k for my 2018 RAM 1500 Limited and that was too much even back then. I will most likely just wait another 3-4 years and buy a lightly used preowned model EV pickup for a fraction of MSRP. I hardly drive my current pickup, it only has 63k miles on it and knock on wood has no major issues.

99% of the time, I don't see a normal pickup truck carrying anything either.

I see pickup trucks on the road all the time
Pulling trailers
Contractor tools like ladders, air compressors, scaffolding
I have never seen a CT do anything but drive around looking to avoid zombies

A warlord using a Cyber Truck. It looks like he loves it while it was working anyway.

Despite the polarization, the CT outsold almost all other EV trucks combined back in July 2024, and actually sold more than all other EV trucks combined in August 2024:

It has also been the best selling vehicle over $100k price point here in the U.S. for the past two months. Granted, it's not a volume seller, but it's doing better than all other EV trucks on the market and it's only been available since the beginning of this year:

will often rub modern people, who have no idea how to get bleep done, the wrong way with his blunt communication style and thought processes.
I have an old friend who is a true Rocket Scientist. He was instrumental in designing the constellation for Starlink at SpaceX. He sat in many all-day group "let's get this done" meetings with Musk, and also short 1-on-1s. The thought "will often rub modern people, who have no idea how to get bleep done, the wrong way" comes directly from him.
He was a short-timer at SpaceX, really more of a consultant. As a newcomer thrown into deep immersion of SpaceX, that was his view of Musk vs others, even within Musk's own company.
anyone who thinks he / she could accomplish 0.0001% of what Musk has, carry on
and yes, the CT is plain ol ugly. it looks like something out of some early video-game, using low-quality graphics, being driven by those people with spheres for heads and hands.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
I had no idea about them until my friend's hubby was lusting on and on about owning one on Facebook, complete with a photo. I didn't get the interest at all.

The very next day (this was just last month) I saw one of them in Milwaukee . . . and the following week I saw one driving through Cleveland. Since knowing what they are, I've seen a grand total of 5 . . . including this one today here in Pompano Beach. Maybe my friend will buy one and he too will trick it out with advertising for his business and take the HUGE tax write off for the marketing expense.

Oh yeah I did see this one last week here at the beach. With the lights on, it does look sorta futuristic and cool.

They are all over the place here in Northern Ca, I think i have only seen one hauling something in its bed, but they are mostly owned by homeowner, not landscapers, contractors etc...

I frequently read the news online from Corozal Belize where we spend part of our winter. The other day the local police pulled over the driver of a Tesla truck driving around town thinking it was some home made thing that shouldnt be on the road. After the driver/owner showed them his paperwork he was let go. He then drove down a dirt road to get to an expat subdivision at the edge of town and proceeded to get stuck in the mud! :ROFLMAO:

This is me! They are ugly and look like someone took some rivets and made a vehicle out of sheets of metal. Bunch of them here in CO, or else I am seeing the same ugly one all of the time.

The Toughest Part About Owning a Tesla Cybertruck ?

Cleaning It

https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/tesla-cybertruck-cleaning-windex-c426300e

Drivers try Bar Keepers Friend, Windex, Costco baby wipes to battle smudges. ‘You just feel like so many people are looking at the vehicle

"The Cybertruck is a rarity in that its outer panels are made of a stainless-steel alloy that is tough enough to withstand dents, dings and even certain caliber bullets. It also need no painting, leaving it with a dullish finish that enhances its futuristic, sci-fi vibe. But cleaning it—well, that requires some extra thought. Automatic carwashes are discouraged too, although the truck does come with a “car wash mode” to seal gaps. Adding to the pressure, Tesla advises Cybertruck owners to “immediately remove corrosive substances
(such as grease, oil, bird droppings, tree resin, dead insects, tar spots, road salt, industrial fallout, etc.)”

CyberKleen was born. The spray, which he sells for $29 a bottle, would take paint off any car if left there long enough, but that isn’t a concern for the Cybertruck, he said.
Tesla has its own $130 detailing kit for the Cybertruck, but as of Monday, it was sold out on the company’s website.

I have noticed a few Cybertrucks arround town with a full colored wrap. Make the truck a bit more attractive in my opinion. One has some racing stripes, and makes it look alot like big Pinewood Derby car..

Thus far, I have seen two Deploreans* on the Big Island. One was wrapped. It's not much of an improvement.

* Or "the Dark Helmet mobile."

Saw another Cybertruck here in Iowa. This time a slightly dirty black one.
