Just received a new II catalogue for 2016/2017. At the beginning of each regional section it shows a TDI for that region or subregion. The numbers don't make sense to me. For example NY gets a 3, Orlando 5, Western Canada 10, HI 13, Wmsburg 29, lower FL Keys 51, SoCal 70. I found a description of the standard TDI chart that shows demand over the year but no explanation of the regional TDI. I hoped the regional TDI might indicate a regions' relative supply versus demand, a metric that has not previously been made public. But based on what I know about locations that are hard to trade into, there is no correlation w the numbers. Does anyone know what info II is trying to communicate?

The TDI simply shows the balance of demand over the year for the region. So a week with a 150 TDI is better than one with a 75 TDI. It doesn't attempt to show demand between regions. So a 100 TDI in one region may be more in demand than a 150 in another region.

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
I tried to see if I could find a pattern on the numbers associated with each region but it seems kind of random.

It says right in the front of the book "Please note that TDI numbers carry no value" Did you see that part?

Didn't see disclaimer

I didn't see a disclaimer stating that the regional TDI was meaningless. Where did you find that? It seems weird to feature a number so prominently when it has no value to the reader. I wonder if the consultant who did the TDI charts simply identified them with numbers 1 through ?? so that they could be put into the book with the right region. In that case, the numbers are likely an editing error and should have been removed prior to printing.

It is weird - especially since it's listed in multiple places throughout the book. Maybe it's not a "value" but it must have a purpose.

Mine is the "Sheraton" edition, although it's supposedly called Vistana now, but whatever. Page 8. See attached. YMMV as to the page number.

It looks like they are numbered online. Orlando is a 5, does that match-up to the catalog? I think they have always had a number on them.

I have not received my new directory yet, but looked in last year's. Orlando's TDI was numbered 5. That number has always been there - and remains the same over the years. Some regions have only one number (e.g. Orlando), and some have 4 or 5 (e.g. Florida Coast).

It is simply II's ID number for the TDI for that region or sub-region. Just like our II member ID numbers, it doesn't carry any meaning other than being an identifier. Like you said, it probably goes from 1 to 100, or whatever the highest number is. An ID number would
1. identify the TDI easily,
1. help II in going back to the support data, and
2. enable II to atttach new regions to existing TDIs that have similar values.

JMHO.

Got that solved

Thanks for the photo, and I think y'all have figured it out. Too bad--I'd really like to know how the TDI compares across regions. But then, I guess RCI's TPUs are something of a guide, as is the experience we TUGgers report on this website. Thanks for the help figuring it out!
