Will be there the week before Xmas - with family for a wedding. So we are arriving on diff days. Does anyone know the costs of a taxi or shuttle to the Marriott from the airport?

Rental cars are only $100 for the week- unfortunately, taxes and fee add 50% (ouch) - so it is $150. Is it worth it? Would save the taxi fares and give us a car to go get groceries as needed. Is there a grocery within walking distance?

Comments would be appreciated. Oh, BTW, is there a spa at the Grand Chateau?

Thanks,

Joyce

I beleive supermarkets are about 3 or 4 miles off the strip, however, the drug store near by sells some everyday needs .. milk, bread, eggs, etc.

I think we paid 12 for a taxi ride from the airport and 9 for a shared shuttle back. We were going and coming from the Polo Towers which is basically at the same location as the Grand Chateau.

Hi Joyce:

The taxi from airport to Grand Chateau is about $15. However, you would need to tell the driver that you want to take the local route rather than highway. The highway route would cost more (about $20) and actually take longer. If you have two or more passengers, the taxi is more economical and convenient.

If you do not plan to drive out of town (such as going to Grand Canyon, etc.), I would highly recommend not to rent a car. The traffic on and around Las Vegas Blvd. ("the Strip") is often congested. I have been to Vegas more than 10 times, and I have never rented a car.

I don't think there is a supermarket within walking distance, though. You can get some basic stuffs at nearby Walgreen.

Grand Chateau is close to the major hotels/casinos. If you need a taxi, there are valet parking attendants that will hail one for you.

There is no on-site spa at Grand Chateau. However, Aladdin is just accross the street where Elemis Spa is located. My mom and wife told me it was pretty good.

Have a great trip.

If you are going to stay and play "On the Strip" only then you don't need a car, although if you are going to be out late at night I wouldn't walk back to the timeshare. Just common sense. I'm sure its fine, but it is off Harmon, not on Las Vegas Blvd.

I haven't heard if this is true for Grand Chalet, but most timeshares in the area provide a shuttle to the grocery store on certain days. Its way far to walk to one. There is a Walgreen's and a CVS one or two "Las Vegas blocks" away, and you can get light breakfast and snack food there.

From the airport you want to tell a taxi driver where you want to go (the address of Grand Chateau) and "no tunnel please." If you are "tunneled" you have not gone the correct way.

If you are there for the whole week, I'd get a car. You can go to Red Rock Park, and Hoover Dam with ease, in addition to the grocery store and downtown.

Shuttle Service

There is a shuttle schedule displayed close to the front desk for going to the super market (Vons), the shopping mall across from the Wynn, and to the Hard Rock Cafe/Hotel.

Check with the concierge or the front desk at the GC for details.

Remember, if you have a rental car, although the parking is free, the valet is a tip-able service.

The shuttle to Vons only runs on Sunday. I took a taxi to the nearest Albertsons--nasty store. The cart was so dirty I was hesitant even to put groceries in it. In the July heat, after calling for a cab after shopping, I waited literally an hour for a cab to show up. Not fun. After waiting over 45 minutes, I called the cab company a second time. Then they came. If you find yourself waiting more than ten minutes for the cab at the grocery store, call them up again to remind them. Don't worry much about the walk from the strip to Grand Chateau. You walk appx. a half block down a paved driveway or small street from the strip to Polo Towers, and then walk along Polo Tower's rear sidewalk to get quite close to Grand Chateau. That was the route the staff at Grand Chateau suggested.
