I typically play craps at a $5 table and $100-my max for a trip-will usually last me a long time and give me a lot of fun. An ex of mine used to be a dealer in Las Vegas and his go to for getting the longest play time out of your money was Pai Gow poker.

I am one of those who gamble for entertainment.
I realize that over the long run the house will win. When I go to the local casino, I bring only the amount of money I am willing to lose (usually $300) and set a time limit. I play no more than two hours. And I only use my discretionary money. A lot of times I lose that $300 in 15 minutes, other times I may be able to play for the entire allotted time. And sometimes come out a winner. This year, I have been lucky and am actually on the plus side. I realize that the math doesn't lie and that over the long run you can't beat the house, but as long as I keep my loses to a manageable limit, I am okay. In other words, I don't chase my loses. As Kenny Rogers said "You got know to hold them, know when fold them, know when to walk away, know when to run."

Cliff hates gambling, and I have to tell him to go find a drink or a walk otherwise he glares over my shoulder at the slot machines. Quite frankly, when they did away with coin slots I lost much of my interest in the machines. It has been ages since we’ve been to Las Vegas, and Cliff never remembers that it is much better to keep me in the casino where I want my $100 to last three days, then to set me loose in a mall where my usual damages are three times that.

Why not buy a slot machine?

Seriously.

I owned one when I lived in Las Vegas. I used it to store quarters. I sold it to a friend because I simply didn't like it. I bought a pinball machine instead. Now I store all my quarters there. Used slot machines can be had for less than $1000. Fill out a form, mail it to the state. Bam, you have a slot machine. The problem is, if you let your friends play your slot machine, you have to keep enough in it for payouts.

Can you find a $5 craps table in Vegas anymore? When I was there in August minimums were $25 on the strip. Red Rock off the strip had a $10 minimum table. $5 would be very rare (if you do find one - let me know;)).

According to this site, $5 craps tables in Las Vegas are no longer available, but they talk about alternatives.

I think $5 and $10 tables are thing of the past anywhere. Here, at the local casino the minimum is $15 at the craps tables. That was just lowered from $25. I only go during non-peak hours, so I'm guessing the $15 tables are $25 during peak time. The roulette wheel minimum is $25.
I only play Blackjack. There are $15 minimums for Blackjack, but the rules are awful, so I go to the $25 tables, because of the better rules.
