Hi All,

Tahoe Ridge works on a different system than the regular HICV system and their computer has some trouble with it. Reservation line now closes at 4:00pm Pacific time, despite the outgoing message that still says 6pm (I believe there will never be online reservations-see below).

I'm a points owner. Today is the rollover deadline for this year. I learned that the computer can't really handle rollovers. What they do behind the scenes it make a "shadow" reservation using your rollover points (the gentleman called it a "saved account"). What that means is that in order to use them, they have to make a behind the scenes cancellation and rebook. So you might accidently get charged a cancellation fee (doubtful) or if the agent isn't careful...your points could get cancelled when they cancel the reservation to rebook. Again doubtful, but an agent could screw up. Just so you know.

OPINION: And no, we'll NEVER GET A WEBSITE. If they wanted to give us one, it would already be done. They just want to force everyone to switch to the HICV computer system. But, they won't let you do that unless you buy more points....NOT! Idiots. At some point when membership really tanks, they'll change that, I believe.

We are also resorts west points owners, waiting and waiting to get into the online system so we can finally exchange our Ridge points and go to other HICV locations. We won't be spending any $ to "convert" to HICV (ie buy more points) because we already pay too much for MFs and I have a sneaky suspicion converting and paying money upfront will actually leave us with less "buying power" even if we have more HICV points. None of the sales people can ever tell me how many HICV points we would get from our Resorts West points. So we resort to the very limited inventory to exchange on II and wonder if we will soon just walk. MFs just went up more than 30% and yet The Ridge seems to be falling into more disrepair than ever.

I'm going to try and use my points by the end of June, shift what's left to Interval, and pay the Horizon program fees and walk. Maintenance fees are higher than I can rent on the open market. Why would I stay?

I wish they would welcome old owners with welcoming hands when they buy out a location.
We love the additions to be able to go other places in our system.
Your week/ size / location you own do have specific points to them when we book.

You didn’t welcome the change, as always just leave it well alone. You were happy.

You would stay happy if they would just automatically make you members in our system starting you off with the allotted points assigned to your unit welcoming you to the new system.
That’s just a dream, wish it was reality
Happy takeover owners are few and far between.

One would have to go back as far as the first 5 buyout experience they did.

Give me your week , size, and location and I can get you your points value

Yes, it is crazy that we can rent at our resort on booking.com for less than our point cost sometimes, especially if there is extra inventory in the spring and fall. Also, at booking.com we can cancel 2 days ahead with no penalty. I have found a bit more value in booking weeks at II, paying for e-plus, but cancelling last minute is very limiting to find someplace else to go in the next 2 months at for the same amount of points. I sometimes buy the allianz insurance as well.
On the plus side though, I have found some random last minute low point deals on II, if I look almost every night. I am going to burn out doing that soon though.

Fortunately, as a "legacy" Resorts West points owner (also traditional weeks owners) at Tahoe Ridge, we get Interval for free with no booking fees. The #2 reason I wouldn't convert my points to HICV (#1 being they require one to buy more points to convert).
