I have a list of companys that rent out units. Leaning toward World Access Systems, Inc to rent 4 weeks at Mayan Palace. Others are, Destinations International, Regal resales & rentals, Resort Rentals, and Royal Marketing Group. All but WASI charge upfront fees, WASI charges 15% commision. Any one have experience with these companys?

timeshare rental companies

Hi,
I have invested several hundred dollars upfront to rent my timeshare and once they have your money they forget about you. If you can find someone for a commision after it iss rented that is the way to go. I never had any luck with these companies and threw away a lot of money.Judy23:

Based on my limited personal experience plus a few years of exposure to TUG, I am inclined to believe that renting out timeshares is pretty much a do-it-yourself proposition.

Fortunately, there are web bulletin boards, Craig's List, eBay, RedWeek-Dot-Com, local radio station web sites, & loads of other Internet ways of advertising for free or for not much.

Good luck.

The resorts and management companies need to be more proactive in helping owners rent their units. Who knows the resorts better than the folks managing them? People feel more comfortable renting from the resort directly than some stranger on craigslist.

Resorts need to feed their rental availability electronically to travel sites like Expedia and Orbitz.

If owners had more success renting at decent prices, resale values at some of the properties would rise.

Bluegreen used to provide a rental service for their owners. They have now gotten out of renting for the owners.

What I was told by Bluegreen, is not enough owners were renting through them, so it didn't pay for them to continue to provide the service as it was costing them too much. The reason I didn't use them is the 35% off the top, I never knew how much they were renting the unit for as they never contacted me to get my approval on an offer, they rented partial weeks-again without my approval, and they were not getting a good hit rate.

I have done better with myresortnetwork.com, craigslist and as a last resort, ebay.

One big problem you will have and that will not go away despite what ever promises any company makes to you is the sheer volume of Mayan Palace offered for less than your maintenance fees.

The Mayan Group and the many vendors who rent out the Mayan developers weeks flooding the Mayan rental market with cheap rentals will affect the rental prices you can hope to get.

I personally dislike the Mayan Group for the many ways they lie and gouge the unsuspecting.

If you use the search feature on this site on the Mayan it you show why the Mayan OM is  despised by a lot of us.

Most owners find it is better to list on some of the sites listed on this site and rent their own units out to have controll of the rental process.

We wish you good luck.
