First time to Surfwatch. Question: Does having a 3-bedroom insure a better ocean view unit? I know it does at Ocean Pointe but no history with Surfwatch. Anyone help me out?
Surfwatch has 3 bedrooms in all floors of all buildings. So your view is based upon your view code when booking and then priority order(multi-week owners on their own weeks thru non Marriott owners exchanging in).
Beautiful resort, enjoy your week there!!

If you'll look at the property map and compare to your view type, that will give you an idea of what to expect. If it's an exchange, It's most likely you'll be in the buildings behind the lagoon which are Garden View.
Just google "marriott surfwatch map" and you'll see there are 5 building in the main area and one down by the ocean. Clearly, the one by the ocean has the best view but will likely not be assigned to any non surfwatch owner.
It definitely does not ensure a ocean view. We had a 3 bedroom at Surfwatch last year. It was in a building at the back with a view of the pond/lagoon.
Even the building closest to the Ocean is not ocean front. There is a large estuary with a boardwalk over it in between the buildings and the beach. If you are at the back buildings, and heading to the beach with a chair and cooler, it is a bit of a walk. The golf cart shuttle service will take you right to the beachfront.
Notwithstanding our so so view and longer walk, I commend the place to you. We will definitely return.

The link for Imperial Palms and Royal Palms, says its for those two resorts .... but the map is for Sabal Palms. Looks like some MVC employee was sipping too many poolside drinks when they put those maps together. Any chance we (meaning dioxide :D) can find any replacement maps for Imperial...
Surfwatch is not right on the ocean, but there is nothing between it and the sand. It is more like a wooded surrounding for part of the resort and changes views as you get closer to the sand. Big footprint also and lots of walking.
