SurfWatch help

Hi,
There are two garden view buildings, sea cove (5300) and sea dunes(5400) that do not have under villa parking.
Ocean Marsh(5100), and Tide Mark(5500) face the pool and do have parking under the villas.
Ocean dunes(5600) is across the road and directly faces the ocean via the salt marsh and does have parking under the villas

LOVE surfwatch!

I am at Surfwatch right now, sitting on the balcony! Very nice overall.

Yes there is a real vacuum in the utility closet.

Norma

Real vacuum is a matter of opinion. ;)

If Marriott was still developing, a central vac would be nice touch to have in the villa. My kids/family are to use to the Vacuflo I put in our home.

I'm usually not so brave to take a Villa's vac out of the closet and turn it on because of the strong unpleasant odor they emit. Hooking it up to vac bags maybe ok as long as it has some form of reverse flow preventer but caution is advised.

You could always ask housekeeping to install a fresh bag in the vacuum.

Thanks TSPam for the details. Very helpful.

Are the first floor units actually above the parking and therefore 2nd floor (like Grande Ocean)? While I also like a high floor, these 1st floors don't bother me to much since they make it easy to come and go to pools.

In the 2 bldgs with no parking garage, the first floor units are not ground level. They are raised a bit (half a story?) off the ground, and the verandahs have railings, so I am not sure you can walk straight out to the pond.

In the bldgs by the pool you are over a story up.

Here's an older SW map that shows the two gardenview buildings (53XX Sea Cove and 54XX Sea Dunes, the two oceanside buildings (51XX Ocean Marsh* and 55XX Tide Mark) and the one oceanvista building (55XX Ocean Dunes). (*Note there are a few units in Ocean Marsh that are gardenview because there's an el in that building oriented to the garden area.)

This picture shows Sea Dunes on the right and Sea Cove straight ahead. Like Normab said, these two don't have parking under but the first floor units are not actually ground level and you can't walk off the balconies. The parking lots for those are behind the buildings.

The other three buildings do have parking under but only for one car per unit. They'll give you parking passes for however many vehicles you have but the extras will have to be parked in the overflow lots that are adjacent to each building.

I've never seen them run out of bikes at SW's barn; this past January it seemed like they've added a lot more bikes with all the options - kiddie carts, baskets, etc.

Jdunn, SW isn't that far at all from Disney - it's a left turnoff from 278 about a mile or so before Disney on the right at Shelter Cove. It's a looooonnnngggg bike ride from SW down the beach to Coligny Circle and Sea Pines. Don does it two or three times a week but I only join him for the first half. :)

Sue, thanks for the great pictures and for clearing up the bike ride to the Disney area and Coligny. Don't think I will be doing that bike ride unless I am super pressed for something to do. The resort grounds look so expansive.

I hope this nice weather continues. I want to be able to enjoy the beach and pools without freezing.

I like all the comments about the vacume. I was just asking becuse we want to use the vacume for those space saver bags, the ones where you vacume the air out of the bag and it really reduces the amount of space needed for packing towels and clothes. Though, I do plan to use the vacume with us having kids in and out of the units all the time.

I am glad to hear SW has so many bikes, especially the kind with the kiddie carts, which I fully plan to rent. Can't wait to bike everywhere for a week and hopefully enjoy the sun and warmth.

Thanks everyone!!!

We just got a trade to SurfWatch too. It's 3/31-4/7 which the reps were calling Easter although Easter's not really until 4/8. DH told me last night he'd like to come home a week early so today I spent 5 hours rearranging reservations. When II says the inventory changes constantly they really mean it. I've been calling for weeks looking for another Hilton Head week. Of course when I gave the agents the dates they would say "but that's Easter". Then this morning the SurfWatch week showed up online. My hands were shaking when I called II. I gave II back the 4/20 OceanWatch week.

We'll be Hilton Head nomads. 3/31 SurfWatch, 4/6 Barony Beach, 4/13 Grande Ocean.

Since SurfWatch is busy I suspect we'll get the "traders" rooms. Still, could someone please recommend a room location that would be good for an exchanger?

We stayed a week at each of these resorts in February and enjoyed our stay at all 3 of the resorts. All 3 had plenty of activities and the dw and I won both prizes at the Name that Tunes night at the Grande Ocean. We have a hard time deciding which of these is our favorite resorts. They all have a lot to offer. The weather was great in February. We had temps in the 60s or 70s most days and I even got sunburned at the outdoor pool our last day at SurfWatch. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Arrived today after a quick dinner in Savannah at b matthews. Got here before dark and had a quick walk around. Love it, love it, love it.

The room is newly outfitted with soft goods. I'm in the corner of the sectional. A sectional!!! The decor is a soothing cottage style. Did I say I love it? When I told the front desk I will be a HHI nomad the guy said he did notice that and told me they have a way to make moving from one resort to another easy. Oh boy oh boy they have made a good first impression.

We're on the 2nd floor of Ocean Marsh (5100) facing pool and off in the distance a big body of water :D Got to get bug spray tomorrow. We stopped at rest area outside St. Mary's on the way up and when I got back to the car hubby said "close the door QUICK!" No see ums. And they love him.

Still love it. The birds were singing to me when we walked around "Welcome back to South Carolina Suzzanne"

I love the smell of the marsh. I love the beach. Oh where is that cute alligator by the bike path...

Hi Suzzanne. I will be there on Sunday and can't wait! Is the movie theater room still there? I heard they are going to expand it, but that means closing it very soon, if that hasn't happened already.

I'm worried about the weather next week. Looking at accuweather, looks cold and rainy. My fear for this trip is cool weather and rain. With 7 kids in our group, we need to be outside as much as possible. We have been to the Disney resort a few times over Easter and the weather can really be miserable this time of year. On the flip side, the weather can be summer like, too.

Kick the alligator away for me before Sunday, please.

Oooh, I'm jealous. :D SurfWatch is one of my favorite places in the world.

Some of the Hilton Head Marriotts coordinate check-outs/ins when you're moving from one to another - I know SurfWatch, Barony and GO are included but the others could be in on it, too. What they do is, they let you stay in the unit you're in until they get a call from the resort to which you're moving that your unit there is ready, and then they call you to let you know it's time to move. You still have to pack up everything to be ready because they ask that you move as soon as possible when you get the call, but it helps. What we usually do is pack the fridge/freezer stuff into bags that we leave in there, leave out a change of clothes and pack up everything else onto a luggage cart inside the unit. We do all the usual stuff (strip the beds, towels in the tub, start the dishwasher, etc) then we head to the pool and wait until the call comes. Head upstairs, throw the pool towels in the tub, throw on a change of clothes, add the cold stuff to the cart, load up the car and be on your way. Much nicer than dealing with luggage storage at the front desk of either resort.

Movies still showing this week. I called AYS and was told the renovations are happening later this year.

We came through storms on Sat. and they said it rained most of the day her. Clear by dinner time and people were making use of the pools. Que sera sera.

This place is packed.

Rode down to Barony yesterday. They were having a soft opening of new beach bar and pool. Garden play area still projected for May.

Is this the Sunday you're arriving? Not too shabby here at 79. We moved to Barony on Friday. Another beautiful resort. (Sh-h-h-h, don't tell anyone but they put us in oceanfront :D ) The room decor is charming. Love the soothing colors.

After years of a perspective from Grande Ocean we're enjoying exploring this end of the island. On Thursday we found Hudson's. Friday we ate at Sunset Grill. Yesterday we rode bikes up to the Main Street area for lunch at Main Street Cafe and Pub. I was impressed to see all their beef is Certified Angus and I had a delicious flank steak salad. (I also was glad to see The Pig carries CAB). Then we rode to the Mitchelleville looking at historical markers. DH is a Civil War enthusiast/writer and has been pleasantly surprised with all we've found so far. From there we found an access out to the beach. The tide was out. . .wa-a-a-a-y out at this end of the island. Back on Union Cemetery Rd. we found the cemetery but only 1 marker for soldiers. Some research online told us they have been moved to Beaufort Nat'l. Cemetery.
