I just received a confirmation of a trade into the Surf Club. The unit is a one bedroom with a code of OFTM. Does anyone know what the code means? It would seem to me that the OF would be ocean front. I traded a 1 bedroom oceanview at the Ocean Club for this. The week I traded is in higher demand then the week I received back.

Log in to the Marriott website and enter the confimation number and last name on the confirmation in the upcoming reservations section. It will provide you details of the room. If you are a Marriott Rewards member you will also want to attach your rewards number to the reservation. If you were just confirmed today, you may need to wait a day for it to show up on their website.

Correct me if I am wrong but if he TRADED into a Marriott property you would not see it in Marriott.com! The confirmation (exchange) number given to you by II is different than Marriott. I exchanged into Timber Lodge in 1/09 and it doesn't show up in my Mariott.com account.

The Marriott reservation # does show up on the II confirmation page. I only found this out a couple months ago.

Look at your II Confirmation Certificate (the pdf file). On the right hand side (light yellow). The last item in the top section shows: Reservation number. This is the Marriott reservation #. Go to Marriott.com and log into your MR account. Then put in the reservation #. It should pull up your reservation for the II exchange. You can then add your Marriott Rewards # to the reservation. Once you've done this, it should show up in your "Upcoming Reservations" section. I've done it for our next two II exchanges into MVCI properties.

Don't use the II Confirmation Number which appears on the left hand side under your name and address.

It takes a few days for Marriott to reassign the confirmation number from the name of the depositor to the exchanger. In the past, I have called immediately and the reservation is still in the original name. Usually, 3-4 days is all you need to wait for it to be in your name.

ONE OTHER IMPORTANT THING I HAVE FOUND. The Marriott Confirmation Number MAY change......I had my membership rewards number assigned to a completed exchange. (exchange for additional Surf Club Week) It showed up in "My Reservations" on Marriott.com etc. One day, it was gone from marriott.com. Naturally, being the calm, cool, collected guy I am.....I PANICKED. I called Marriott and (although it took a while) determined that II changed the week they were giving to me. Not the unit size or calendar dates of the week, simply the inventory. As a result, the original Marriott confirmation number was not valid. I called II, got the new onw and everything was fine. I spoke with II about this. As far as they are concerned, the Marriott confirm. number is irrelevent. You have a confirmation number from them and an active exchange. (I don't believe this happens often, but it can.)

It is helpful to add the reservation to your account. Not only does it show up in your upcoming reservations, but it should also get you elite night credits after your stay.

It is also important to note that the name on the reservation must also match the MR account. So if II put the reservation in one spouses name but you use the other spouses MR account to collect all points, you won't be able to add it. You will have to call Marriott to have them modify the names on the reservation.

II exchanges do not earn night credits. I have "slipped through the cracks" and gotten them a few times in the past. However, in the past 14 months, things seem to have tightened up. I have not gotten credit for 4 sep. exchanges. Point credit-yes, earned nights-no.

There is no exclusion in the MR T&C that exclude II exchanges from earning elite nights. There used to be an exclusion that would not allow you to earn elite night credits for your owner stay, that was discontinued July 1st or 31st I beleive.

Yes there is, in a "technical" sort or way. To earn elite nights, there must be a nightly rate shown on your receipt.

When my exchanges did not post, I contacted Marriott Rewards directly. I faxed in my info etc. You do not earn the nights when there is not a nightly charge for them. I spoke to a supervisor etc. No luck. You will not get them.

We did earn nights for our ownership week in Aruba this year.

We've always earned nights for our II stays at MVCI properties in the past. But not when staying at our home resort with reservation made with MVCI. That I understand has now changed and we will be earning nights for these stays.

You will start earning elite nights for your home usuage.

However, I think you will not see II exchange nights posting anymore. We were never supposed to have earned them, but the system often posted them anyway.

It needs to be a paid stay to earn elite nights. Marriott does not consider an II exchange to be a paid stay, therefore no nights. I wish we got them. Like I said, I think the loophole was closed only recently. Several conversations with Marriott has revealed that we were never to receive them and would not be getting them in the future.

There was a recent thread about this topic (earning elite nights) for both owned weeks and exchange weeks into Marriott locations. As posted by many on that thread, I have recently seen first hand that elite nights are given for owned and exchanged nights into Marriott resorts. Maybe something has changed since you talked to MR reps. Just like dioxide45 is trying to say.

I agree. I believe something has changed. We have stayed at 3 Marriott properties this year on exchanges-no elite nights even though our Mem Rewards number was attached in advance and we got the points. The "stay" shows on my account as checked in and out the same day on each one and the points earned. I called and they said, not a paid stay, no elite nights.

I have an upcoming II exchange in November at Grand Chateau. On my reservation on Marriott.com it says: "This stay will be credited to your Marriott Rewards account." We'll see what happens.

I had that as well. The rep told me that is referring to the points, not the elite nights.

I hope you get the nights. It frustates me that I stay at MVCI 3-4 weeks a year. I WANT THOSE NIGHTS.

We were credited for our weeks stay (8/16-23) at the Kauai beach club traded thru II in addition to our week at the Waiohai (which we own). Also rec'd credit for nights stayed on points in Waikiki and retroactively for a night stayed at the Jersey City Courtyard.

The rules have most definetly been changed. I have seen the new rule in writing, did a quick search and couldn't find it (maybe someon can help out here).....but it really does exist and you should be receiving nights credited toward your elite status.

I have found when speaking with some CSR's; not all are as well versed in their comapny rules as they should be, if you have good reason to believe he/she "got it wrong"....politely hung up and call back...you can always tell within the first 2-3 min of conversation whether or not the call will be a waste of your time and cut the aggrevation short !
