I know both resorts are in Shelter Cove but that is about all I can find about them. Is there one nicer than another? any water views? Looking for recommendation of 1 vs the other.

Thanks

Harbour Point is better because the buildings border the marsh/inland waterway,
while Sunset Pointe buildings are set behind those of HP.
See below.
You'll want to request highest floor with a water view----love the marshland view, very peaceful,
and fun to watch the wildlife and occasional watercrafts navigating the waterway.

While it's true that the Sunset Pointe buildings sit further back, there are definitely units there that have water views just as good as Harbour Point. In essence these two communities share the same outdoor amenities ie pools, walking trail, grills, activity schedules and are equally located near Shelter Cove which is a terrific venue with lots of shopping, restaurants, marina, and places to meander and people watch, including a small park for kids.

As 2boysmom said, it really is one resort with 2 separate ownership entities. They share a lobby, fitness center, activities room, and 2 pools. To me the marsh views from all three Harbour Point buildings is great. I just stepped out on the balcony to take the attached picture. The Sunset building at Sunset Pointe has good views, but Marsh building is a bit more blocked.

We enjoy staying here. Yes, the villas are smaller and the second bedrooms only have twin beds, but it’s kept in great shape And I love having the ability to walk to everything at Shelter Cove. Besides it’s convenient to everything on the island. To me it’s the best value proposition on the island.

I've never stayed at either of the Sunset buildings but I can tell you that the views over the marsh from the Osprey building are absolutely delightful, I would suspect that waterfront room in the Pelican are just as nice but there are also parking lot views in that building. Peaceful, quiet, and in my experience interesting in that we've seen a fair number of dolphins, kayakers and small boats. We were supposed to be there this week but were called off. Absolutely agree with GSB that it's very convenient and not overrun. I would walk across to the beach and meet up with my wife & grandkids while getting a good three+ miles in.

Well said.
Harbour Point is a well-kept secret, especially given the recent wonderful renovations AND the extremely LOW destination point requirements!
You might actually be blown away at those cost comparisons to other Marriott resorts in all seasons.
Both resorts are smaller than other Marriotts, including the units, but they're quite adequate and the deal is worth it.

IMHO, there are far more opportunities to get a great view at HP because it has more waterway views to offer, and SP only has a scant few.
Those water views will go to "Owners who occupy" first, so the odds are better at HP.

We mostly stay at HP on random spontaneous trips, and we always enjoy it. We especially enjoy the easy and beautiful walks
to Shelter Cove along the waterway.
The great restaurant Ela's (an awesome second-story dining level surrounded by windows) is very close and has one of the most
romantic harbor views on the island, gorgeous in the evening. And that's a great time & place to take a stroll after dinner.

For usage or purchase? For usage I'd take HP if you can ensure you're not getting a D unit. SP units are nicer and overall, larger. HP views for non D units will be better. I think the problem using points is you can't be sure up front what you're getting. One good point of reference is that the A & B units all have fireplaces where the C & D units do not.
