looking for a trip within driving distance. Would you recommend Catskills, Shenandoah Valley? Not into a historical trip. Pools, lakes, hiking, beach...

How about Finger Lakes region and then push on to Niagara Falls?

Depending on what you consider "driving distance"... Massanutten has plenty to do for adults and 8-10yr old kids. Also, consider Williamsburg VA...it's not just an historical trip.

Smugglers notch. Fabulous activities for kids those ages. tons of fun stuff--plus beautiful mountains. One of my kids' favorite vacations.

Lake Placid area is great for families. RCI has summer weeks available too.

There are alot of resorts and activities in the Poconos. Hershey PA is nice as well.

Drive on down to South Florida. Everglades, snorkeling, fishing, beaches, upper Keys ....

My sister had zero (actually minus zero) interest in a July 4th week trip to Ft Lauderdale. Her 17 & 15 yo had been with me before during a summer week there the prior 2 summers. Her 9 yo had a strong desire to go. She and her kids had spent the prior week on the beach in Ocean City, MD. Her words "No way do I want to spend back to back weeks at the beach with the boys".

She had a great time. We all did. And it was 10 degrees cooler in South Florida the entire week than it was in the Mid-Atlantic region. ;)

we have relatives in So Florida and to there often enough. I wouldnt drive there though. Way too long for me to do!

Poconos is on our list also. Were going to do that last year before we decided on going to Harborside :)

We are so lucky on the East coast to have so many amazing vacation destinations within driving distance. Ocean City, MD, Virginia Beach, Cape Cod, OBX, there are so many great places to go! Good luck deciding!:)

The Tyler Place in Vermont. Off of rt. 91. Like a summer camp for adults and kids! Both together and apart:whoopie: . Investigate it.

I second Smugglers Notch. Can't beat it for kids. I have also heard Tyler Place is nice. :)
