Suggestions On Not Getting Harassed Relentlessly While Staying At Grand Mayan?

Rene,

If you haven't been to Xcararet, I strongly recommend that you go. Do the whole thing including their spectacular night show. We go on the tour that we purchase in the MP lobby. We have done Xcaret twice now and will do it again on our next visit in April.

I agree with John Cummings. Xcaret is fantastic. My favorite part is the underground river. The management is very safety concious. Everyone wears a life preserver and there are life guards all over the place. However, for me, being a history buff, my favorite activity in Mexico so far has been a tour of Chichenitza. This photo was taken in May 2008. We stayed at the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya and had a great time.

We have done Chichen Itza also and it is very interesting but a long drive from the Rivera Maya. We toolk the Chichen Itza tour that we bought at the resort.

We will be at the Grand Mayan - Riviera Maya this Christmas. I have attended their sales presentation once, and have no desire to do so again.

But I know their style. If I don't agree to go, I probably will get morning calls, waking me up, every morning, until I do. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

make your appointment the last day

They are a plastic wristband that you must wear while at the resort. It identifies you as a guest. There are various colors denoting whether you are on an exchange or an owner and also whether you are a MP or GM guest. They put the wrist bands on you when you check-in. The resort is totally non-cash and you charge everything to your unit and pay when you checkout. It is very important to note that a 15% gratuity is included on all food purchases except at the boutique. There is no need to tip any of the servers. This is not true at all Mayan Palace/Grand Mayan resorts. Some do not include the tip. You will be asked to post a credit via your credit card when you check-in. You determine the amount. Make sure that you don't under estimate it or you will have to get it extended. In any event it is no big deal.
