Hi,

We bought a 3 bdrm unit at MFC this year. The sale took a long time. At my request, the prior owner booked the week of Nov 17 for us.

The sale has been completed and we own the week now but the friends that were going to use the week can’t do it.

I posted it for rent as a confirmed week on Redweek - (even had them post “owner is accepting offers”) but no bites.

Maintenance fees are around $2600 for that week.

From now on - we intend to stay for two weeks every year (and we already have the other 3 bdrm week). The timing of the purchase was a bit “off” this year - so the weeks aren’t together and it didn’t work out.

I have 61 days from today to the check in on 11/17 - for the unit we can’t use.

It says I can get 4000k bonvoy points if surrendered before 60 days out.

How long would the!points be good?

If I submit online do they count weekend days?

What happens if I don’t make the 60 days before checkin deadline?

Bonvoy points don’t expire as long as there is activity in the account- I think it’s some activity within 2 years?

You can deposit the week into II. You want to do that at 60+ days to avoid flexchange.

You could also call and see if you could get a later reservation to give you more time to rent.

If you bought resale directly from another owner, I don't think you would be eligible for any type of points conversion Bonvoy or Abound.

I think non enrolled weeks are eligible to convert to bonvoy.
But I don’t think it can be done last minute- isn’t it a year ahead?
I could be wrong about non enrolled- my week is enrolled and I see the option to do so.

I agree not eligible for abound.

I think your only option would be to deposit it into Interval International today. However I am not sure how easy it is to do so on a Saturday (and also dealing with a week that has yet to be signed up for Interval International use).

I don't believe your week is eligible for any type of points.

You can easily deposit your week into II on line as long as you have an account and a reservation number for your week.
Phone lines are open until 8 PM on Saturday.

If you have trouble call II they are open.
Now that I think about it the new week might not be set up in your account yet.

@JulieAnne Chat customer service is available now. The chat team probably can't change your reservation check-in or cancel because they can't collect the change/cancel fee, but you can try so there is a record of your request so you can ask for an exception on Monday. The other option is to ask Chat to deposit to II to your existing personal account and validate your week ownership at the same time. From II side, you can deposit only after the week is added to your account and it takes several days to validate. By then your deposit will be stuck in flexchange (check-in's within 60 days only).

To add another week to an II account, you have to pay a $39 fee or extend your II membership for a year or more. I don't know if the set up is instant or takes a week or two to load to your account due to II verifying the week. I doubt you would get it loaded without it being a late deposit at this point.

I’m a big fan of chat.
This is Chat on the MVC owner site- hopefully you have a log in for that site?
Type Agent to get by the bot and you get a live person.

If you call II and they can’t help you instantly also ask them to document that your week closing just happened and you are trying to deposit outside of flexchange. They might make an exception to the flex deposit.

Good luck- let us know how it turns out.

I think you are a little confused about what you own. The MF for a 2brm are 2600 but you say you have a 3bdrm with MF of 3100 both have tax of about 150. You say you put it on Redweek but only two 3brm listed on Redweek for 11/17- 11/18 are asking 3500. Both are reasonably priced.
The best way, IMO, for you to proceed is to advertise it as a fire sale. Put it up for 2000, sure you'll lose 1k or so but I don't think you qualify for any points based on what you've said. If you don't rent it 30 days out I'd lower it to 1000.

Thanks to all for the great advice.

I used the online chat to connect with MVC on Saturday. The person was very helpful and encouraged me to get my ownership added/set up with II.

I spent about a half hour on the phone with Interval that afternoon. The lady was going to take my $39 to add the MVC ownership onto our current II acct. But then the line went dead before she’d finished the purchase. I tried calling back but by then it was after 5 pst and they were closed.

So that took us past the 60 day mark.

I decided to drop our Redweek rental ad price to $2800. That almost covers our annual out of pocket. The unit rented very quickly once I dropped to that price. We are happy at this point.

Jim, I’m not sure why you didn’t see our week on Redweek. I still see it but it shows up as rented now. You may be right that I may be a little confused on some of this but I’m determined to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can.

Our actual maintenance cost per unit for 2023 is $2884.16. We hope to use the two weeks consecutively from now on - for as long as we are able to travel.️
