My dd has sometimes complained to me about similar situations. She does call the police but they are slow to respond. Customer after customer will come up and ask what the store (she works customer service) is doing about the child or pet in the car. She tells them she has called the police already and paged the owner of car with license plate #### with no response. She has even sent an employee to stand next to the car. Then she gets an icy response from the owner/parent when they do show up. Usually they have driven off by the time the police show up.
Personally whether it is against company policy or not - I can't imagine anyone ignoring a child locked in a car. I would much rather be fired for going against policy then have a child die because I didnt do something. I am really interested in what their policy really is, because if it is to ignore something like this I would never shop there again!!
