You were right (never doubted it :D ) Gannon's is wonderful. We went for dinner last night. Used Open Table to make the reservation and asked for a table outside with an ocean view. Our request was met. We both had the Walu with wasabi mashed potatoes and Asian slaw. Split a beet salad. Then we both indulged in dessert. It was all fabulous. We realized we had eaten there before, but before it was Gannon's. Was there a restaurant called Sea Watch in that location prior? For some reason that name seems familiar.

Did you ever get to Peter Merriman's Monkeypod restaurant? It's only been open about a year and I think is his newest. We're very fond of his restaurant in the King's Shops on the Big Island so we tried it for lunch. Very good. It's in Wailea, but up the hil with a view of the ocean. We will definitely be going back there for dinner. The waitress told us we had just missed seeing Peter as he was there for lunch with his daughter.

That must be Bev Gannon's restaurant in Wailea. We have not been there yet but we have heard about it. Her other restaurant Hali`imaile General Store in Makawao is also wonderful. It's bit of drive in Upcountry. You might want to give that one a try...

Yes, it's the one in Wailea. She has another one called Joe's in Wailea also. When we were here two years ago Gannon's was closed due to the filming of a movie, so we couldn't go then.

We were just up country today, but went after lunch and came back before dinner. Maybe we'll make it up there to eat at some point while we're here.

Monkeypod is a nice Place

I second the opinion on Monkeypod.
We ate there 7 months ago, and had a very nice evening.
Very healthy dining, with lots of local fare. They have a
nice bar, with all the cocktails you could want.

We went on a Fri. Night, and the place was packed.
We were lucky enough to have made reservations, so
we were seated quickly.

The place is pricey, be prepared to drop $18-24 per person for food.
The drinks will set you back for $8-10 each. Four of us went,
and the bill was in the $150 range with a couple drinks each.

Great views and a classy atmosphere are main attractions.

Dinner for the two of us at Gannon's was $135. That was one drink (dh had iced tea I had a mai tai), we split a salad, two entrees and two desserts. Your price for Monkeypod for four sounds reasonable. :D

If I remember correctly, Hali'imaile might be a bit on the cheaper site than Gannon's. It's an interesting restaurant, converted from an old general store in the middle of (I believe) pineapple field.

I think Joe's may be cheaper as well. I haven't quite figured out where it is yet, it's in Wailea and supposedly near the tennis courts somewhere. Ahhhh, so many restaurants, so little time. :D

Glad you finally tried Bev Gannon's. I also remember it had another name but it wasn't Bev Gannon's food.

I never could find Joe's either.

I'm in Galveston, right on the beach for a few days. Can't compare with either Kauai or Maui but only a 4 hr drive and $50 for gas.

AA just notified me they changed my convenient flight to Lihue to inconvenient flights in June. :(

We ate lunch today at the Hali'imaile General Store. It was completely unplanned. We were going to go to Paia and have lunch there, but it was raining and the traffic into town was horrible. So we took the bypass road to Baldwin, went up to Hali'imaile and had lunch there. Wonderful. It was the best meal I've had so far. :D

Yes, There is one in Wailea. When we were went there last 2,3 year ago this was closed due to the shooting of the movie.

wollongong solicitors

This is exactly why we didn't go when we were here two years ago.

And there are two Gannon restaurants in Wailea. Gannon's, on the golf course, which is the one that was closed during film shooting and Joes, which is on the tennis courts near the Wailea Town Center. From what we heard at the Hai'ilemaile General Store, the General Store is the first one, then Joe's (named for her husband), then Gannons.
