Starwood: Who gets week 53? [Must read for week 51/52 owners]

Thanks! That's what I was hoping was the case, that it was marked on the deed paperwork in a different way so it was perfectly clear whether it was a fixed week or an event week.

Something to look for if we buy any more units...

Now next question would be is "next to last use week of the year" always going to include Christmas Day?

If you think about it, the answer is yes. The last use week of the year must check in between 12/25 and 12/31 since a check-in date of 1/1 would be week 1 and a check-in date of 12/24 means it isn't the last use week. Thus it follows that the next to last use week of the year must check in between 12/18 and 12/24 and thus must include Christmas Day with the worst case being a check out on 12/25 (as it is for me this year).

I still maintain that Week 51 in 2016 is higher demand than Week 53. Even though it won't include Christmas, families with kids out of school will still be happy to travel to a warm destination or go skiing in the mountains. Meanwhile, only Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be desirable for Week 53.

True - but, that doesn't really have any impact on this situation, because week 51 can't be moved to week 53, or vica-versa. The issue is that in 2016, week 51 doesn't include Christmas, and it isn't as desirable as week 52.
