I may have not been paying attention but I don't remember seeing this on the MSC website before. Is this new?

I have always taken care of my rental independently. If the price is right, this sure would be easier.

What is SVO offering? Which are the "select resorts" and who are the "Eligible Owners"? What are the rates? Does it depend on a specific week you already have reserved or are you relinquishing your week to a pool?

I could call SVO but I figured I would ask you guys and get the real deal.

The rental program is only available at some properties. I own at WKORV and it's not available there. I haven't checked where it is available.

The last time I inquired, it was not a very good deal. they charged half the rental income plus "expenses" whatever that meant. They didn't guarantee the unit would be rented and if it didn't rent you'd be out of luck. It could also end up renting for a very low price.

I think renting yourself is much better and results in a lot more money in your pocket. I'd be interested in hearing from someone that actually used the program, though. Is it better than it sounds?

Do not rent thru the Starwood rental company! No, No, No, No!!!

They take too much or as some have found, nothing at all. Rent it yourself, you will make more money and most important, still have control of your week.

The other posters are correct:

If you give it to Starwood to rent, you can't get it back.

There is no guarantee it will rent.

You get 50% of the proceeds (but they don't tell you how much it will be in advance) and any fees, like travel agent commission, come out of the owner's half.

It's just another example of the way Starwood looks after it's owners!
