We are planning a visit to Italy this Nov to visit our daughter who will be studying there in the Fall. Has anyone ever stayed at the Westin Europa & Regina in Venice? It has a more favorable rate and point value than the other 2 SPG properties in Venice. Just wondering how it compares.
I was hoping to use our SVOWN50 discounts on the trip, but of course that rate is at least 100 Euros more than their "best rate" on every hotel I checked.

Make sure you check out the Starwood forum on FlyerTalk.com - many hotel comparisons by country there.

We stayed here last summer (only for 1 night). I was using the free night cert that I earned after staying two nights in starwood properties (Summer promotion). They upgraded us to a wonderful canal view suite that was for about $900 per night if booked with the SPG site. Our canal front terrance was about 400 Sq feet. People who get inside view rooms complain a lot about this hotel, but we had a wonderful stay and felt like royalty.

We were there last summer. Good value, we were upgraded, great location,no complaints. The other hotels are older but very european classic hotels. Loved Venice!

My mom was there last year and was upgraded too! The Canal view is amazing. She loved her stay so much she is going back for 3 nites this Fall.

We have been ther two times the first was wonderful with an upgrade to a canal front room. This past month we went the second time and were given a inside room since the hotel had been sold out to a "Tupperware convention" and they were very apologetic that they could not upgrade us. The rooms are fine and the service is excellent. They will upgrade if possible.

Go on tripadvisor.com and seach the hotel and read the reviews. It will have all you need to know.

Not sure about the Westin but we were in Venice this past Sept. We use starpoints to stay a few nights at the Hotel Danieli. We had a small suite good size entry hall, small living room, bedroom and an "incredible" bathroom. Our view was the side canal. We have never ever stayed in such a fabulous place before. I could not praise it enough! Yeah the place has some peeling plaster and paint, some uneven floors but were talking hundreds of years old. It was absolutely incredable. So, if you have the extra starpoints I would highly recommend the Hotel Danieli.
We also stayed at Westin in both Florence and Milan all on starpoints and all very nice. Atleast we got something from the bonus starpoints from the developer puchase.

We stayed here three years a go (on points) and loved it. Make sure to reserve a canal view room or you may be disappointed.

We also love the Europa & Regina

We were travelling with our children and had booked 2 standard rooms with cash/points. We were upgraded to 2 adjacent spacious canal view rooms and had an outstanding time at this hotel.
